Larry Baer Obituary

Larry Baer

Larry Baer, 80, of Deshler, passed away Sunday afternoon, Sept. 18, 2022, at Grand Rapids Care Center, Grand Rapids, Ohio.

He was born June 2, 1942, in Deshler, to the late Roy "Toot" and Esther (Spoering) Baer.

Larry was a 1960 graduate of Deshler High School. He served his country in U.S. Air Force as an Air Force Policeman. He was married to Louise (Hemminger) Kuhlman and they had two children, Karen and Larry "Bud."

Larry worked as a certified welder and would often recall his work at Andersons Grain Elevators and numerous bridge projects around northwest Ohio. He was a member of Ohio Carpenter's Union. He was also a member of New Beginnings United Methodist Church, Deshler, and attended Harvest Fellowship Church, Hamler.

He married Betty (VanScoyoc) Baer on March 21, 1998, at St. Paul's United Methodist Church, Deshler.

Larry was an avid outdoorsman and was passionate about hunting, especially seasonal deer hunting. He was a member of Leipsic Fishing and Hunting. When not playing outdoors, he loved his family and was very proud of his grandchildren and enjoyed spending time with them. He enjoyed it so much, he was often on the floor with them, enjoying playful times at their level.

He is survived by his wife of nearly 25 years, Betty; children from his first marriage; daughter, Karen (Darrel) Hill of McComb; son, Larry LeRoy "Bud" (Colleen) Baer of Cygnet; stepdaughters, Sue Kline (Richard Smith) of Metamora, Michigan, and Anna (John) Flanigan of Lake Orion, Michigan; five grandchildren, Justin Hill (Dani Nause), Derrick (Chelsea) Hill, Brandon (Ashley) McKee, Chase (Brittany) McKee, and Chelsea Baer; six stepgrandchildren, John (Jessica) Kline, Matthew (Nicole) Kline, Elizabeth Kline (Corey DeGrandchamp), Alexandria (Andrew) Muench, Brennan Flanigan, and Jenna Flanigan; nine great-grandchildren, Quinn, Jack, Rowan, Ainsley, Brodie, Ashdon, Lilly, Lila, and Easton "on the way"; and three stepgreat-grandchildren, Brooklynn, Elijah, and Ophelia.

He was preceded in death by infant twin sisters, Arlene and Darlene Baer.

Larry's funeral will be 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 23, 2022, at Feehan-Rodenberger Funeral Home, Deshler, with Pastor Richard Betts officiating. Graveside services with military honors will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery, Deshler.

Visitation is 3-7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 22, 2022, and 10-11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.
