Kathleen Alice Phillips

Kathleen Alice Phillips (Katie) passed away peacefully Wednesday, March 12, 2025, at Birchaven Village of Findlay.

Katie was born November 26, 1928, in Findlay, to Vern A. and Ruth M. (Stall) Stimmel. She was the fourth of seven children and attended Findlay High School, graduating Class of l946. Following graduation, she was employed in the office of Ray's Bakery, 307 N Main Street, Findlay for three years. On June 27, 1949, Katie married Vernon L. (Red) Davidson of Findlay and moved to Wheeling, Illinois, where they lived for 15 years. In Illinois, Katie was employed at Wyeth Inc. of Evanston and Kleinschmidt Laboratories of Deerfield. Katie and Red had four children. When they later divorced, Katie and the children moved back to Findlay. She then worked in the office of Braswell of Ohio Inc. from 1964-1966 and in the office of Case Power & Equipment from 1966-1981, both in Findlay. In August 1970, she married Robert L Phillips of Findlay, and they enjoyed 39 years of marriage until his death July 18, 2009.

Growing up in the big band era, Katie loved music, singing in the choir, and working jigsaw and crossword puzzles. She was a lifelong member of First United Church of Christ, American Legion Auxiliary Post No.3, Findlay Ladies Shrine Club, and Dendarah Court No.10, Toledo. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, and friend to all who knew and loved her. Katie will be remembered for her devotion to family, her ability to remember detailed histories of family events, and her lasting friendships.

Katie is survived by three sons, Daniel S. (Holly) Davidson of San Diego, California, David A. (Dawn) Davidson of Palm Harbor, Florida, Jeffrey G. (Karen) Davidson of Williamsport; and three stepsons, R. Scott (Gail) Phillips, William C. (Sharon) Phillips and J. Joe Phillips, all of Findlay; seven grandchildren, Andrew (My) Davidson, Robert (Katie) Davidson, Stuart Davidson, Henry Davidson, Jacqueline (Ryan) Banning, Catherine Pape and Caroline (Cordan) Hussey; five great-grandchildren, Ansel, Eleanore, Eloise, Judah and Crew; four stepgrandchildren; and seven stepgreat-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Lyn (Glenn) Saylor of Cleveland; brother-in-law, William W. Phillips of Findlay; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Robert L. Phillips; daughter, Sue Ann Davidson Pape; son-in-law, Mark W. Pape; and stepson, David Phillips; sisters, Margaret E. Shelley and Mary Blide; brothers, Ronald Stimmel and Joe Stimmel; in-laws, Cass Stimmel, Jack Campbell, Richard Shelley, John Blide, C. William and Shirley Davidson, Robert and Doris (Davidson) Long, Robert and Winnie Davidson and Charles and Winifred Phillips; and her first husband, Vernon L. Davidson.

Private memorial service for family will be Friday, April 25, 2025.

Memorial contribu-tions can be made to First United Church of Christ, 2100 Greendale Avenue, Findlay; Findlay-Hancock County Public Library, 206 Broadway, Findlay; or charity of choice.
