Karen Alge Obituary

Karen Anne Alge

Karen Anne (Noe) Alge, 84, of Findlay, passed away Tuesday, February 4, 2025. She was born December 18, 1940, in Cambridge to the late Royal and Glenna (Erven). She has a brother, Vaughn (Susan) Noe of Sheffield Village; as well as niece, Jocelyn Fada (Chris); grandnieces, Sophie and Maddie Fada, and nephew, Jeff Noe. Karen graduated in 1958 from Elyria High School, where she was a member of the band. She attended Oberlin College, eventually working at Marathon.

Karen married William S. "Bill" Alge, Jr. on April 23, 1977, at First Presbyterian Church. Before marrying Karen, Bill had a daughter, Shani Alge Hursh of Chardon. Karen always involved Shani in many activities during her childhood including her being the flower girl and ring bearer for their wedding ceremony.

Shani graduated from Ohio University with a business degree. Shani's daughter, Laine Hursh, graduated from Denison University and lives in Chicago.

Karen and Bill's daughter Alex A. Alge, of Chicago, graduated from Ohio University and has her master's degree from University of Illinois-Chicago and is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Case Manager in Chicago. Alex's daughter, Reign Riley, is in 2nd grade in Chicago.

Karen worked very hard at being a good wife and mother. She went on several mission trips with the church while being a secretary to the president of Marathon. She was actively involved as mother attending many school functions for Alex, as well as attending numerous dance practices and recitals, softball games, basketball games, and track and gymnastic meets.

Karen was huge sports fan especially OSU and the Cleveland Browns. She has never been to a Super Bowl. Karen would also attend college football games and bowl games that Bill officiated as a college football official.

Karen designed the family's home and did all the decorating.

Almost annually, Karen and Bill would vacation at Maumee Bay with their daughters and granddaughters. Karen loved watching her granddaughters, Reign and Laine, grow and treasured spending time with them and hearing their thoughts and ideas. She always encouraged them to be themselves and express their individuality.

Karen loved to travel and was an avid reader of history. Karen saw numerous western National Parks and Monuments with Bill and saw much of Europe with Bill or friends and Bill. Another memorable trip of hers was to Paris and Normandy that she enjoyed with Bill, and Alex. Karen also visited St. Petersburg and Moscow, Russia to visit several art museums.

The family extends its thanks to Birchaven nurses, aides, and staff for all their care and comfort provided to Karen while a resident in the Aspen ward to make life better.

Visitation will be from 3-6 p.m. Saturday, February 15, 2025, at COLDREN-CRATES FUNERAL HOME in Findlay.

Funeral Service will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, February 16, 2025, at FIRST PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH in Findlay.

I knew Karen from Marathon. The day she had her first date with you Bill, I was working with her, and she was giddy all day (what to wear, how to act, etc). If my memory is correct, it was a blind date. And here you were married almost 50 years. She was cute, fun, ambitious, friendly. I have good memories of her. I also remember we had the same birthday. May God comfort you and your family in the many months to come as you adjust to your new life without Karen's presence.
