Joseph Grigoli Obituary

Joseph Grigoli, lovingly known as “Uncle Joe Bay”, passed away peacefully on February 24, 2026, at the age of 89.

Born on September 8, 1936, to Victor and Anna (Burasco) Grigoli. Joe attended Glennon High School, where he began forming a strong work ethic. He started his career at Traders Bank and later found his true professional home with the Kansas City Royals, serving as Season Ticket Sales Manager until his retirement.

Joe absolutely loved baseball. Working for the Royals was more than a job — it was a joy. With his many connections for game and concert tickets, he delighted in helping family and friends enjoy unforgettable experiences. His love for sports didn’t stop there. He was a devoted fan of Kansas Jayhawks men's basketball, and if you were part of his family, you were expected to be a KU fan too!

Though Joe never had children of his own, he poured his heart into his role as uncle. He was crazy about his nieces and nephews and loved them as if they were his own. To them, he was far more than an uncle. He kept them spoiled, supported, and deeply loved.

Joe was known for his generosity. If he saw a need, he gave. If someone needed help, he showed up. His kindness was quiet but constant, and his impact will be felt for generations.  He will be remembered for his big heart, his loyalty to family, his love of sports, and the countless memories made at games, gatherings, and family celebrations.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sister and brother-in-law Frances Spitaleri (Tony), sister and brother-in-law Florence Distefano (John), and a great-nephew Jude Kettner.  He leaves behind his nieces and nephews Joe Spitaleri (Kristi), Victor Spitaleri (Angela), Tom Spitaleri (Amy), Cathy Scimeca (Louie), Mike Distefano (Sonie), John Distefano, and many great-nieces and great-nephews.

He will be deeply missed and forever loved.

Services will be held on Tuesday, March 3, at Nativity of Mary Catholic Church. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m., followed by the Funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be at Mount Olivet Cemetery.

Pallbearers: Phillip Bonino, Mike Distefano, John Distefano, Tom Spitaleri, Louie Scimeca, Anthony Bonino

Honorary Pallbearers: Joe Spitaleri, Victor Spitaleri

Rest in Peace, Joe Bay!

March 3, 2026

Uncle Joe was one of the most loved family members and loved all of us with his whole heart. He spoiled his nieces and nephews with so much but especially with his love and kindness. He never knew a stranger and when the family grew with new members, he always accepted us with open arms. He would do anything for us, we just needed to ask and he'd do his best to make it happen. There are so many wonderful memories to cherish and I will forever be grateful for all that he did for me and my children. Rest in peace, Uncle Joe, until we meet again. Love, Jodi Kelly

Joe, was one of the nicest people I ever met. I was a season ticket holder for the Royals in the 70's & 80's and being there to see the Royals win their 1st World Series in 1985 was a moment in time to remember
forever! Joe along with the deceased Bob Stiegler back in 1986 arranged for me to sing the National Anthem at a game with the Seattle Mariners. An experience I'll never forget!! Thanks Joe and RIP!!!

Joe Joe was my friend and coworker at the Royals for many years. He let me share his birthday with him because mine was a day before his and the tradition started 19 years ago. Joe had a great sense of humor, even through some very stressful times. He knew so many people around town and seemed to be somehow related to most of them. He usually said, “Oh bay, my niece or nephew owns that.” I am proud to say that he was my friend and I know he is smiling down from Heaven on us now.
