John Richard "Rick" Chortie

John Richard "Rick" Chortie, age 82, of rural Arlington, died at 11:55 am on Friday, June 24, 2022 at his residence. He was born in Toledo, Ohio on December 12, 1939 to the late Arthur and Mariane (Monroe) Chortie. He married Kaylynn Corwin in October of 1986, and she survives.

Also surviving are daughters: Janet Hamilton of Hilliard, Ohio and Julie (Dave) Frazer of Tampa, Fla.; grandchildren: Tim, Calvin and Jessica; brothers: Charles Chortie of Toledo and Alan Chortie of Tonawanda, New York. A brother, David Chortie also preceded him in death. Rick also had a beloved dog, Tonto.

Rick retired from Cooper Tire and Rubber after 40 years of service. Following retirement, he continued working at Findlay Ford and Quickline for 10 years. He had also helped with the Tire Amnesty program locally. He was a member of the Pioneer Auto Club, enjoyed collecting Pepsi items, antique automobiles, and motorcycles. He enjoyed NASCAR racing and participating in demo derbies. Rick will be remembered for his willingness to help others and his "good heart".

Funeral services will be held at 1:00pm Tuesday, June 28, 2022 at COLDREN-CRATES FUNERAL HOME with Pastor Cathy Davis officiating. Burial will follow in Ten Mile (Bethel) Cemetery. Visitation will be held Monday, June 27, 2022 from 4:00-7:00pm at the funeral home.
