John Altman Obituary

John J. Altman

John J. Altman, 74, of Findlay, passed away peacefully Saturday, October 25, 2025. Born in Findlay, March 3, 1951, to Bettie (Long) Altman and John Altman, he grew up with a strong love of sports and community. A proud 1969 graduate of Riverdale High School, John made his mark early as one of Ohio's All-State Linemen in 1968 and was later inducted into the Hall of Fame alongside his teammates.

John dedicated over 30 years of service to Cooper Tire before retiring. Beyond his work, he was an active and well-loved member of the Findlay Moose Lodge No. 698 and a lifetime member of Port Clinton VFW Dads.

In 1992, John married the love of his life, Bonnie(Plowman) Altman, and together they shared 33 wonderful years filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories. He is also survived by his daughter, Michele (Scott); and grandchildren, Ciara Pevy, Jordan Basa-Pevy and Bella Luna-Pevy; sister, Phyllis Altman (George) Schaefer; nieces, Lori (Bryan)Miller, Beth (Rodney) Wolfe, Melissa(John) Ellerbrock, and Renae(Terry) George.

In honor of John's wishes, there will be no memorial service.

The family asks that any donations be made to Teddy's Rescue in Findlay, where John adopted his beloved dog, Willow.

John will be remembered for his sense of humor, generosity, and the deep love he had for his family and friends.
