Jeannette Riegle Obituary

Jeannette L. Riegle

Jeannette Louise Riegle, 84, formerly of rural Vanlue, peacefully left for her heavenly home Sunday, April 23, 2023, at The Heritage, Findlay.

She was born Aug. 6, 1938, to Harold and Hazel (Bame) Lee. She graduated from Vanlue High School in 1956 and married Donald L. Riegle on Feb. 15, 1959, at E.U.B. Church (formerly St. Paul U.M.C.) south of Vanlue. He preceded her in death April 11, 2022, along with her brother, Norman Lee.

They had two children, Denise (Ken) Edwards of Smithville and Kurt Riegle of Arcadia; six grandchildren, Tyler (Amanda) Smith of Vanlue, Joel Smith of Cincinnati, Hannah (Trent) Derrick of Charleston, South Carolina, Eli Riegle of McComb, Seth Riegle of Findlay, and Joshua (Ashley) Riegle of rural Carey; two great-grandchildren, Josiah Smith and Lee Derrick; three sisters-in-law, Sandy Lee of Melbourne, Florida, Maxine (Riegle) Gerber of Columbus, and Hope Riegle of rural Findlay.

Jeannette first worked for Dr. Rhoton in Findlay, then went on to work for Dr. Robert Brown in Findlay as a medical assistant/ "nurse" at that time. She gave shots, helped with patients' procedures, and did a lot of the billing paperwork. She truly loved helping others and made the office a pleasant place to visit. After Dr. Brown retired, she became employed at Vanlue High School as a secretary to the Superintendent. Then she returned to the medical field again and was employed by Dr. Harry Bash, an ophthalmologist in Findlay. She was his medical assistant for eye surgeries at Blanchard Valley Hospital and Findlay Surgery Center. She really enjoyed interacting with the patients and staff. After retirement, she became a volunteer at Blanchard Valley Hospital.

She was a member of Vanlue Christ Church and had previously been a member of St. Paul U.M.C. for many years before it closed. Playing the piano was an important passion of hers, as she played regularly at both places, giving praise to the Lord! She loved bringing joy to others. She was faithful to follow the grandkids' sporting events and always had a word of encouragement. She was a great mom and grandmother and led by example.

Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Wednesday, April 26, 2023, at Stombaugh-Batton Funeral Home, 225 W. Findlay St., Carey. Jeannette's funeral will be 11 a.m. Thursday, April 27, 2023, at the funeral home with Pastor Brad Adams officiating. Burial will follow at Zion Bloom Cemetery, Vanlue.

The family would especially like to thank The Heritage in Findlay for the good care they provided for Jeannette and Don. They are together again!
