SWANTON - Janice Lapan, age 82, passed in the early hours of Sunday, May 4 at her home, surrounded by her loving family.
She was born on July 29th, 1942, to Harry and Dorothy (Brusoe) Brow.
Janice was kept busy raising three active boys, while Fuzzy was out driving truck. She was a very attentive mother and she loved her sons with all her heart; they were her world. Once the boys were of school age, she took a job at Softlight, where she worked for 10 years until their closure. Within her years there, she made many special friends with whom she cherished. Thereafter, she was a devoted caregiver, providing daycare for friends and relatives. She made sure that any visitors, at any time of the day, were well-fed and welcomed with warmth and a hearty laugh. She loved to host house parties and always cooked for a crowd! She spent a lot of time at home and thoroughly enjoyed keeping her house spotless inside and out. She enjoyed shopping especially when she'd find someone to chat with. She also enjoyed yard sales, watching soap operas, and playing cards. She was a passionate Elvis fan and loved to go dancing with Norman, where everyone would remember her enjoying her occasional Seagrams 7 & 7. She was incredibly proud of and enjoyed every minute spent with her many grandchildren and great grandchildren and took every opportunity to talk about their accomplishments with anyone who would listen.
Janice was predeceased by the love of her life and husband of 63 years, Norman "Fuzzy" Lapan, by just two weeks. She is survived by her children, Randy Lapan and his wife Lucy, Roger Lapan and his significant other, Sue, Ricky Lapan and his wife Tammy; grandchildren, Michael Lapan, Kali Lapan and significant other Jarrid, Ashley Lapan, Breanna Lapan and fiancé Wyatt, Danielle Wrisley, Tyler Wrisley, Ian Greenia and Ashton Greenia; great grandchildren, Grayson, Munroe, Savannah and one on the way; special sister-in-law, Carol Brow, and adored cousin ("big sister") Dot Bruyette. She was predeceased by her parents, Harry and Dorothy Brow and all of her siblings.
Dot and Janice exchanged the following poem before Janice's passing, which she wanted to share when the time was appropriate:
"Do not cry for me. I am in a pain free happy place.
Celebrate my life and remember all the good times we all shared together all the laughs over the silly fun times we shared.
I carry each and every one of you in my heart and cherish every day we were there for one another.
Do not be sad. Remember all the happy times and there are so many.
Till we meet again my love is with all of you"
Love,
Janice
