James R. "Jim" Kline

James R. "Jim" Kline, 80, of Upper Sandusky, passed away unexpectedly Sunday, June 9, 2024.

Jim was born Dec. 18, 1943, in Findlay, to Harold and Clara (Martin) Kline. He married Karen Huffman on Oct. 3, 1965, at Trinity Evangelical U.M.C. and she survives in Upper Sandusky.

Jim is also survived by his daughter, Melissa (Matt) Ricker of Carey; three grandchildren, James, Alex, and Leah Ricker; eight siblings, Bill (Louise) Kline, Doris Imbody, Helen Brown, Lynda Weihrauch, Jerry (Martha) Kline, Bev (Gene) Parks, Barb (Bruce) Currie, and Pat Guterez; and a multitude of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and four siblings, Kate Crozier, Virginia Gates, Carol Heldman, and Rose Willier.

Jim graduated from Van Buren High School in 1963. He started his working career at an early age when he started working at Shady Grove Golf Course when he was 12 years old. Jim worked for Lite Star Oil Company, Chief Dairy (which is where he met his wife, Karen,), Micheli Corp., BOC Gases, and currently, Jim was working for Wyandot County Humane Society.

For hobbies, Jim enjoyed golfing, especially going on the annual Maggie Valley golf trip. Jim also enjoyed spending time at the lake with his family where they enjoyed going boating, water skiing, and fishing. Jim also enjoyed going snow skiing and reading. He was an avid Detroit Tigers fan and he loved his dog, Gracie. Jim especially loved spending time with his daughter and grandchildren.

Jim's celebration of life will be 4-6 p.m. Monday, June 17, 2024, at Lucas-Batton Funeral Home. A time of sharing will be at 6 p.m.
