James Kenneth Andrus

James Kenneth Andrus, 73, of Findlay, passed away unexpectedly Monday, June 3, 2024, at Blanchard Valley Hospital.

He was born Feb. 17, 1951, in Findlay, to Kenneth Andrus and Helen (O'Hara) Frees. He married Nadine Finlayson on Aug. 8, 1969, and she survives.

James is also survived by his children, Keith (Christine) Andrus and Shelly (Jason Jenkins) Andrus; grandchildren, Jarrod (Megan) Andrus, Steven (Anna Powell) Andrus, Jocelyn (Tyler) Routzon, and Jordyn (Tyson Wilson) Frazier; stepgrandchildren, Autumn Nickolson, Timothy Botts, and Vanessa Lambert; great-grandchildren, Kamden, Shane, Kylie, Karson, Olivia, Elliott, Mavis, and Bella; brother, Rick Andrus; sister, Joy (Larry) Rhinehammer; sister-in-law, Joan Harris; brother-in-law, Ernie Tennant; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and brothers, Jerry Andrus, Stephen Harris, Thomas Harris, and Edward Harris; and sisters, Betty (Morris) Arras, Donna (Tom) Sterling, Nancy Tennant, Judy Morrison, and Mable Greene.

James was a 1970 graduate of Findlay High School. He began his career as a police officer with City of Findlay, eventually moving to Carey Police Department, where he retired as a Lieutenant in 2007. Following his retirement, he worked as reserve officer with Wyandot County Sheriff. He also worked as an independent owner/operator truck driver, delivering auto parts for 42 years.

He was a longtime member of Trinity Baptist Church in Findlay, where he taught first, second, and third grade Sunday School for 50 years. He also taught in the Teen department and the Awana program. He was a member of Carey Masonic Lodge Number 420.

Visitation will be 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday, June 6, 2024, and 12 p.m. Friday, June 7, 2024, until the time of James' funeral at 1 p.m., all at COLDREN-CRATES FUNERAL HOME, 205 W. Sandusky St., Findlay, Ohio, 45840. Pastor Ben Jennings will officiate. Burial will follow at Trinity Memorial Gardens, Findlay.
