Homer Thompson Jr.

Homer Thompson Jr., 89, of Findlay, passed away Thursday, Dec. 22, 2022, at Bridge Hospice Care Center, Bowling Green, Ohio.

He was born March 6, 1933, in Maysville, Ohio, the son of the late Homer Sr. and Mabel (Gilgen) Thompson. He was married to Marcille Babcock, who preceded him in death. Together, they had five children. He then married the love of his life, Roberta Bowyer on Jan. 12, 1975, and she survives in Findlay.

Homer is survived by his wife; sons, Donald Thompson and Richard (Heather) Bowyer, both of Findlay; daughters, Nona Booze of Findlay, Regina (Rodney) Ludwig of Findlay, Robin (Randy) Kroeger of Elmore, and Rebecca (Kurt) Seedorf of Findlay; 15 grandchildren; 47 great-grandchildren; and 23 great-great-grandchildren.

Homer was preceded in death by his first wife, Marcille Thompson; son, Mark Thompson; daughter, Maric Ball; and brothers, Clifford, Raymond, and Don Thompson.

Homer attended Living Hope Church, Findlay. He enjoyed traveling, had a great sense of humor, and enjoyed teasing and joking with everyone that he could. He was also the "cat whisper" to his loyal cat, Scottie. He was employed at Cooper Tire and Rubber Company, retiring after 30 years in 1985 and was in property managements with Showe Management Corporation for 27 years with Roberta, retiring in 2012. Homer was also a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War.

Homer's memorial service will be 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 31, 2022, at COLDREN-CRATES FUNERAL HOME, Findlay, with Pastor Dewey Harris officiating. Visitation will be 12-1 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Members of Hancock County Veterans Memorial Squad will accord military honors following the services.
