Harold Raymond "Hal" Butte
Harold Raymond "Hal" Butte, 81, of rural Forest, died Tuesday, Sept. 6, 2022, at his residence. He was born Oct. 2, 1940, in Findlay, to the late Clyde and Mary (Williams) Butte.
Hal is survived by a son, Lance R. Butte of Findlay; daughter, Fawn C. Butte of Phoenix, Arizona; brothers, Sam (Pam) Butte and Gary (Bonnie) Butte, both of Arlington; and sisters, Linda Essinger of Arlington and Janet Vaughn of Palmetto, Florida. He was preceded in death by a sister, Nancy Sheldon of Bloomdale.
Harold retired in 1992 from Cooper Tire in Findlay, and was a 1958 graduate of Arlington High School. He took an interest in music at an early age and began playing guitar and singing. He spent many years in and out of multiple bands performing in Findlay and surrounding areas. Harold proceeded to influence his children in the field of music as well, and the "family band" often spent countless hours in living room sing-alongs.
Hal had the uncanny ability to make people laugh during difficult times of struggle and the propensity to calm people in the middle of emergency situations. His kind heart and loving nature was felt by all who knew him. He took great care to foster, both his daughter's and her teammate's, softball athleticism by coaching many years in the Findlay city Young Miss Softball program and eventually taking them to the state championships. He had an impeccable dedication to the girls' growth in sportsmanship and his ability to nurture was unparalleled.
The simplest pleasures in life brought great joy to Harold. He loved sitting in the sun on a hot summer day and the occasional early evening card-games with his son and grandchildren. Often, he could be seen attending local high school football games. Hal's commitment to family was impeccable and he never hesitated to jump in to help whenever needed, whether it be helping a niece or nephew move or jump in to offer a ride when needed. Harold was well-respected and a kind-loving man.
Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 13, 2022, at Crates Funeral Home, Arlington. Hal's funeral will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 14, 2022, at the funeral home. Pastor Jerry Kellogg will officiate and burial will follow at Bishop Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Cancer Patient Services. Online condolences are welcomed at
