Greta D. Noakes

Greta D. Noakes, 85, of Findlay, passed away Friday, March 1, 2024, at her residence.

She was born Sept. 12, 1938, in Carbondale, Illinois, to Earl and Cletus (Holden) Hundley. She married Gary Dean Noakes, in 1968 and he preceded her in death in 2020.

She is survived by her children, Dina Swain (Larry) of Greenville, South Carolina, Kent Elders of Jersey City, New Jersey, Bradley Noakes (Mark Johnson) of Marion, Illinois, Bryan Noakes (Dianne) of Thornton, Colorado, Brenda Farley (Dale) of Paducah, Kentucky, and Betty Black of Carterville, Illinois; daughter-in-law, Teresa Czerniewski of Duquoin, Illinois; grandchildren, Blaine Wells, Brandon Wells, Chloe Nesler, Tori Swain, Brennon Swain, Chris Farley, Russell Farley, Ross LeQuatte, Morgan LeQuatte, Jillian Minor, Lindsay Rawls, Austin Black, Olivia Noakes, Tiffany Baldi, Christy Williams, Emily Conner, and Cody Ellermeyer; and 26 great-grandchildren.

Greta was also preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Melody Nesler in 2023; and son, Barry Noakes, in 2019.

Greta graduated from Carterville High School in 1956. Together with her husband, Greta opened Noakes and Associates Real Estate from their home at 865 S. Main St. in 1980 and were later joined by their daughters, Melody and Dina, and grandson, Blaine. Gary and Greta owned and operated the brokerage until retirement. Greta held the status of Realtor Emeritus with National Association of Realtors (being licensed for over 40 years), served as President of Heartland Board of Realtors, President of a Top 50 Company within ERA Real Estate Franchise, and was a member of National Advisory Council with ERA Real Estate. She enjoyed traveling to many real estate conferences around the country and particularly enjoyed Carmel, California, and the Californian desert.

She enjoyed playing the piano and at one time was an organist for First Baptist Church in Carterville, Illinois. She had a talent for dressmaking, knitting, and needlepoint, and greatly enjoyed working in her flower gardens.

Visitation will be 3-7 p.m. Wednesday, March 6, 2024, at COLDREN-CRATES FUNERAL HOME, 205 W. Sandusky Street, Findlay. Greta's funeral will be 11 a.m. Thursday, March 7, 2024, at the funeral home. Private burial will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery, Findlay. Contributions in Greta's name may be shared with Open Arms, 401 W. Sandusky Street, Findlay, Ohio, 45840.
