Georgie Frost Obituary

Georgie Crockett Frost passed away Tuesday, February 11th, 2025 at Atlantic Shores Seaside Rehabilitation Center at the age of 97.

She was born May 27th, 1927 to George Michael and Lillian Hazel Spraker Crockett in Cripple Creek, VA.  

Georgie devoted her life to serving others throughout her career as a nurse, which she began in Pearisburg, VA where she trained to be an LPN. She then worked as an OR nurse in Pulaski, VA before settling in Galax, VA, where she continued to serve as a nurse for 40 more years at Twin County Community Hospital.  It was there that she met her husband, Sparkie Frost.

They were married July 1st, 1962 and built their life together in Galax.

Georgie was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 28 years, Sparkie Frost, and an infant son.  She also was preceded by her brothers, Stanley Crockett and Frank Crockett; her sisters, Patsy C. Jones and Katie Crockett; brother-in-law Dempsey (Frances) Frost; sisters-in-law Burlynn (Willard) Roberts and Guyda (Dwight) Blevins; as well as several nieces and nephews.

She is survived by her son, Danny Frost of Winston-Salem; her daughter, Shannon (Joseph) O’Neill; her beloved grandchildren, Ryan O’Neill, Sean O’Neill and Hannah O’Neill; her sister-in-law Eva Crockett; her three nieces, Nancy, Peggy and Angie, and special friends, Doris Combs, Roger Absher, Linda Jones, and Emily Lindquist.

Mama was loved by all.

Her celebration of life will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, February 22nd, 2025 at Vaughan Guynn Funeral Home, Galax, VA.  Pastor Keith Crowgey and Marvin Williams will be officiating. Burial will follow in the Monta VIsta Cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday from 10:00 AM until time for the funeral service at the Vaughan-Guynn Funeral Home.
