Eugene "Jake" Geckle

Eugene "Jake" Geckle Jr., 54, of Alvada, passed away Tuesday, December 2, 2025, at Bridge Hospice Care Center, surrounded by his loving family.

Jake was born November 2, 1971, in Findlay, to Eugene Geckle Sr. and Annie (Crates) Fisher. He married Cindy Woolum in March 2005, and she survives in Alvada. Jake is also survived by his parents, Eugene (Jane) Geckle Sr. and Annie Fisher; children, Tyler Geckle and Jessica Alribright; grandchildren, Waylon, Autumn, Montana and Bricen; a sister, Chris (Bob) Borkosky; nephews, Austin (Emily) Borkosky and Joe (Liz) Borkosky; great-nieces and nephews, Addy, Liam, Alli, Teddy; and his canine companions, Kevin and Max.

He was preceded in death by his stepfather, Jonathan Fisher.

Jake owned and operated Jake's Mobile Hi-Rail Service. Jake will always be remembered as a jokester at heart, as someone who could light up any room with a laugh or a story. He never met a stranger, and his easy smile and warm spirit drew people in wherever he went.

Jake was a man with a talent for tinkering. Jake loved working on engines and cars, often found under a hood with a tool in hand. He was the kind of person who would drop everything to help someone in a time of need, offering not just his skills, but his kindness and generosity.

Some of his happiest days were spent at the Lake House in Port Clinton, surrounded by family, friends, and the simple joy of being together. Above all, Jake's proudest achievement in life was his family, especially his beloved grandchildren, who brought him immeasurable joy and purpose.

Jake leaves behind a legacy of laughter, love, and service to others. He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

A Time to Gather and Celebrate Jake's life will be from 3-6 p.m.Wednesday, December 10, 2025, at Stombaugh-Batton & Snyder Funeral Home, 225 W. Findlay St., Carey, Ohio 43316.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Jake's honor to his family or Toys for Tots.
