Erma M. Brodman
Erma M. Brodman, 98, passed away peacefully Saturday, Nov. 30, 2024, in the comfort of her own home, surrounded by those she loved.
Erma was born Jan. 31, 1926, to Michael C. and Margaret (Arnder) Yost. She married Leo Brodman in November of 1945 and they were the parents of Joan, Robert and Peggy (Carr) Brodman, Charles and Teresa (Pahl) Brodman, Karen and Dan Gerschutz, Glenna and Art McGrain, Marilyn Zender, Jean and John Schumm, Alice and Bill Sowers, Patrick and Tina (Theis) Brodman; 31 grandchildren, 76 great-grandchildren with two on the way; a stepgreat-grandchild, a great-great-grandson; sister-in-law, Sr. Donna Louise; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; three infant daughters and two infant sons, Janet, Dennis, Donna, Joe and Maria; grandson, Zachery Brodman; ex-husband Leo; three brothers, Hubert and Helen (Koepfer) Yost, Alfred and Mary (Smith) Yost, Harold and Ann (Bodart) Yost; and a sister, Mary and Herb Enck.
Erma attended Our Lady of Consolation School and graduated from Carey High School in 1943. Erma was a member of Basilica of Our Lady of Consolation Church and its Rosary Altar Society, a life member of American Legion Auxiliary No.344, and Carey Senior Citizen and CLC Council 86. After retiring from OLC School as a cook, she volunteered at Carey Senior Depot for Euchre on Thursdays for over 30 years. Erma liked gardening, canning, baking bread, rolls, biscuits, pies, cakes, and cookies. She enjoyed watching her great-grandchildren play sports.
A Funeral Mass will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 4, 2024, at Basilica of Our Lady of Consolation Church, 315 Clay St.,
Carey, Ohio 43316, with the Rev. Tom Merrill, OFM Conv., officiating. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery.
