Emmet Wesley "Clem" Clements

Emmet Wesley "Clem" Clements passed away Wednesday, Aug. 21, 2024, at his residence.

He was born June 13, 1927, in Wood County on Hammansburg Rd., to Clifford L. and Beulah Lytle Clements. He attended 11 different schools, Rollersville, Rudolph, Van Buren, Vanlue, Wayne, Arcadia, Glenwood, Findlay, McComb, and Mt. Blanchard, but never graduated.

He was drafted into U.S. Army Air Corp. and spent 33 months in Iwo Jima during World War II. He was a diesel mechanic and elevated to the rank of Tech Sergeant.

He is survived by three children, Charlotte A. Beckman, Linda S. Simon, and Bruce W. Clements; eight grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

Clem was preceded in death by his loving wife, Patricia A. Woessner; and son, Wesley Dayne Clements.

He owned A-1 body shop in Findlay, Chevrolet, and Superior Coach. He also worked as a concrete foreman at Enrico Fermi Power Plant where his claim to fame was pouring 36,000 yards of concrete in 33 hours non-stop.

He was a 32nd degree Mason, member of Rite Masonic Bodies #227 Findlay, and loved transporting children for the Shriners Hospital. He completed transporting children 24,901 miles (once around the world). He has been a member for 60 years and his home Lodge is Mt. Cory #418.

He was a member of Bluffton Trinity United Methodist Church.

Visitation will be 1-3 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 25, 2024, at COLDREN-CRATES FUNERAL HOME. Clem's funeral will be 10 a.m. Monday, Aug. 26, 2024, at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Pleasant Hill Cemetery where full military rites will be conducted by Hancock County Veterans Memorial Squad.
