Dwight Frater Obituary

Dwight Frater

Dwight Frater passed away Sunday, December 28, 2025, at his residence. He was born March 11, 1949, in Kenton to the late Earl and Irene (Williams) Frater. Dwight married Diana Hinkle, December 20, 1969, and she preceded him in death.

Surviving are two daughters, Angela Frater of Dunkirk and Stefani Epling of Dunkirk; son, Venard (Marcella) Frater of Dunkirk; a brother, Keith Frater of Wharton; seven grandchildren, Riana Johnson, Lena Johnson, Bianca Epling, Gabriel Epling, Rowan Frater, Rayne Frater, and Rune Frater; five great-grandchildren, Violet Johnson, Hunter Johnson, Ryleigh Milliron, Averie Milliron, and Arietty Clark; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Bradley Epling and three brothers, Robert, Raymond, and Tom Frater.

Dwight graduated from Hardin Northern in 1968. After graduation, he was drafted to join the US Army, where he proudly served. When Dwight came home, he worked for Cooper Tire, retiring after 36 years. He also farmed for many years, finally retiring in 2005.

He was a member of Hardin County Shrine and Dunkirk Masonic Lodge 549, where he was a 32nd Degree Mason.

Dwight loved to be outdoors. He had a lake house in Michigan where he enjoyed being in the woods and going to the lake. Most of all, he loved his grandkids and visiting with neighbors.

There will be no services. It was his wish to be cremated. Price-McElroy Funeral Home in Kenton is assisting family with arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Dwight's honor may be made to Hardin Northern Community Center.
