Duane Dearth Obituary
Duane Thomas Dearth, 90, of Leipsic, passed away Friday, Jan. 26, 2024, at The Villages in the Meadows of Leipsic.
Duane was born June 22, 1933, a mile west of Gilboa, to Cornelius and Doris (Eck) Dearth. He married Audrey Jean Arrington on Oct. 14, 1957, and she preceded him in death Jan. 15, 1986. He married Mary Stainbrook on Nov. 30, 1990, and she survives in Leipsic.
Duane is also survived by a daughter, Linda (Tony) England of Findlay; two sons, Steve Dearth of Findlay and Scott Dearth of Arlington, Texas; stepchildren, Dennis (Cindy) Stainbrook of Ottawa, Dawn (Cody) McCullough of Pandora, Terry Stainbrook of Ottawa, and Gary (Wendy) Stainbrook of Fort Mills, South Carolina; 18 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Betty Simon and Jean Fields.
He was also preceded in death by two stepchildren, Gail (Stainbrook) Morris and Bruce Stainbrook; brother, Larry Dearth; and three sisters, Ann Huser, Ellen McCullough, and Doris Herr.
Duane proudly served his country in U.S. Navy from 1954-1958. He was a faithful member of Gilboa Methodist Church. Duane and Mary traveled across the southwest U.S. in their retirement years, settling as snowbirds on the Florida Gulf Coast. He enjoyed gardening and had a green thumb.
Duane's funeral will be 12 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 10, 2024, at HEITMEYER FUNERAL HOME, 916 East Main St., Ottawa, with Pastor Ruth Carder-Crist officiating. Burial will follow at Harmon Cemetery, Gilboa, with military rites by Gilboa Legion. Visitation will be 10 a.m. - 12 p.m. Saturday.
Memorial donations may be made to Gilboa United Methodist Church.

Mary, this is Laurie's sister, Elizabeth. I am so sorry for your loss. I only met Duane a few times so I didn't know him really well. He seemed like a sweet soft spoken man.. it was nice to run into both of you down in Amish country a few years ago. Prayers for you and your family.
