Dorothy Mae Gearing Robinette
Dorothy Mae Gearing Robinette, 96, passed away Saturday, Nov. 19, 2022, at St. Catherine's Manor of Fostoria.
Dorothy was born June 2, 1926, in Findlay, to the late Harry Durain and Arthelma (Tooman) Durian Yost.
Dorothy was the oldest of her siblings, Marie and Don Keel (deceased), Phyllis Kessler (survives), Jerry Durain (deceased), Robert Durain (deceased), and Marilyn Blosser (survives).
Dorothy was a 1944 graduate of Findlay High School. She retired from Marathon Oil Company and previously worked at the Findlay Sears store.
Dorothy was married to George Gearing Jr. and they were divorced and he is deceased. She later was married to Richard Robinette for 24 years and they were divorced.
Dorothy is survived by her six children, Gary (Jan deceased) Gearing, and his four children, Lisa August, Lori and Chris Stergill, Mike and Tammy August, and Matt and Shelly Gearing, Alan and Paulette Gearing and their four children, Mindy and Doug Morris, Lori and Frank Grafmiller, Trent Gearing, and Scott and Laura Gearing, Jim Gearing and his four children, Kerry and Tom Hanson, James and Maggie Gearing, Josh Gearing, and Jason and Bailey Gearing, Ron and Barb Gearing and their six children, Julie and Joe Haselberger, Jenny and Shawn Gilliland, Chrissy and Phil Sabota, Amy and David Burks, Amanda Rea, and Doug Gearing, Patty and John Carnahan, and Chris Gearing; 42 great-grandchildren; and 10 great-great-grandchildren.
Dorothy was a member of StoneBridge Church of God, attended Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, and was on the Prayer Chain at College First Church of God. She was also a member of Fort Findlay Doll Fanciers Club and Purple Heart Women's Auxiliary. She was very proud that her five sons all received their Eagle Scout Award.
Dorothy love making all kinds of crafts for her children and grandchildren. She made over 1500 little blue bags for Hancock County Veterans Memorial Squad. She loved to decorate for the holidays, especially Christmas time was her favorite holiday.
Visitation will be 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Monday, Nov. 21, 2022, at Kirkpatrick-Behnke Funeral Home, 500 Lima Avenue, Findlay. Additional visitation will be 10-11 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 22, 2022, at College First Church of God, 1100 North Main Street, Findlay, followed by Dorothy's funeral at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Brandon Kelly officiating. Burial will be at Knollcrest Gardens.
