Dorothy A. Powell

Dorothy A. Powell, 90, of Findlay, went to be with the Lord Monday, Oct. 21, 2024, at Mennonite Memorial Home in Bluffton. She was born in Findlay May 23, 1934, the daughter of the late Clair Russell and Margaret A. (Wonder) Bowersox. On July 20, 1952 she married the Rev. Dick Allen Powell who preceded her in death Dec. 10, 2014.

Survivors include four children, Mark A. (Janet) Powell of Rawson, Becky L. (Bruce) Traucht and Cheryl A. (Mark) Richey, both of Montana and Douglas L. (Kay) Powell of Zanesfield; nine grandchildren, Lynsie (Luke) Keuneke of Rawson, Erika (Thomas) Naylor of Findlay, Kayla (Jeremiah) Magee of Findlay, Chelsie (Josh) Perry of Rossford, Daniel Traucht of Montana, Matt Traucht of Montana, Randy Traucht of Montana, Seth (Aja) Powell of Mingo, and Levi Powell of Marysville; stepgranddaughters, Christina (Cole) Leininger of Colorado and Patti (Michael) Weber of North Carolina; great-grandchildren, Cohen and Adalyn Smith, Isaiah, Isabelle and Isla Naylor, Briggs, Bryer and Beckham Magee, Liberty and Kimber Perry, August and Colton Traucht, and Raegan Powell; and stepgreat-grandchildren, Liam and Olivia Weber.

Preceding her in death are her parents; her husband; and a grandson-in-law, Steve Smith.

Dorothy was a member of Findlay First Church of the Nazarene, a religious education teacher in the Hancock County School System for over 50 years, a 4-H adviser, and a Girl Scout leader. She enjoyed traveling, piano, music, sewing, reading, and gardening. Dorothy was a long-time member of the (C.C.L.) Child Conservation League, and taught Sunday School for many years in various churches.

Visitation for Dorothy will be from 2-7 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 27, 2024, at Findlay First Church of the Nazarene, 2501 Broad Ave. Findlay and one hour prior to the service Monday at the church. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 28, 2024, with Pastor Mike McClurg officiating. Burial will follow at Powell Cemetery, Eagle Twp.

Memorial contributions may be directed to Hancock County Religious Education Association or Life Wise Academy, Findlay.

Remembering Mrs. Powell warmly as I recall how much I enjoyed her storytelling at Religious Ed...decades ago:). Amazing to consider all the children´s lives she must have impacted and all the seeds she planted over the years. I´m thankful to have known her.
