Donna Krauss Obituary

Donna J. Krauss

Donna J. Krauss, 97, of Findlay, passed away peacefully at 9:27 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 1, 2024, at Blanchard Valley Hospital.

She was born June 23, 1927, in Wapakoneta, tp Carl E. and Mildred M. (Dotson) Varner. A woman of simple pleasures, Donna often spoke of the wonderful life she lived and was ready to go home to her Lord. It's quite fitting that she passed on Labor Day weekend, as her work on earth is complete.

She was a 1945 graduate of Findlay High School. She married the love of her life, Richard Krauss, on Aug. 22, 1948, beginning a beautiful marriage and partnership that lasted 68 years. He preceded her in death Oct. 2, 2016. Together, they built a life that took them to various Henry County communities, including Holgate, Liberty Center, and Deshler, finally moving back to their hometown of Findlay in 1981. She was a member of St. Andrew's United Methodist Church where she was active in their women's circles and Emmaus Walks.

Donna's greatest pride was her family and her family will attest to her outstanding talents in the kitchen. Her meatloaf recipe is legendary and her Thanksgiving Turkey cookies were works of art! She loved to play all types of card games with family and friends. A family gathering was never complete without a competitive Left-Right-Center game! She spent countless hours watching all of them compete in their various school and sporting events.

She is survived by four children, Rick of McAllen, Texas, Dave (Jenny) of Deshler, Doug (Sue) of Archbold, and Lisa (Jon) Ammons of Findlay. She loved her 13 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren, who affectionately called her "GiGi." Her legacy includes Kyle (Amanda) Krauss of Dayton and their children, Landon and Viviana, Laura (Rob) Price of Delaware and children, Quin, Avery, and Jackson, Eric (Krista) Krauss of Lewis Center and their children, Griffin, Jocelyn, and Carson, Tim (Jodi) Krauss of Fishers, Indiana and their children, Trey and Ethan, Morgan (Andrew) Loewen of Westerville and their children, Finley and Maren, Amy (Todd) Huff of Houston, Ohio, and their children, Hailey, Hudson, Hunter, and Haddie, Marc (Kelcey) Krauss of Findlay and their children, Ava, Kennedy, and Cooper, Brock Ammons of Guangzhou, China, Kaleigh Krauss of Austin, Texas, Clayton Krauss, Hallie Krauss, Colton Krauss of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and Connor Krauss of San Antonio, Texas.

She was preceded in death by her parents; siblings, Richard Varner, Eileen Bame, and Judy Rocciano.

Donna's memorial service will be 11 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 5, 2024, at St. Andrew's United Methodist Church, 120 W. Sandusky St., Findlay, with Pastor Cathy Davis officiating. Visitation will be 10-11 a.m. Thursday at the church. Internment will follow at Knollcrest Gardens, east of Findlay.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be directed to St. Jude’s Hospital or Richard H. Krauss Book Scholarship.

Pat and I have such wonderful memories of Donna. Loved her sense of humor and her chocolate chip cookies! She was such a caring, loving soul. Years ago when Deshler had their sidewalk sales, loved working with both Dick and Donna. We had such fun. We all were blessed with having such wonderful parents. You all are in our thoughts.
