Donald L. Weinandy
Donald L. Weinandy, 69, of Alvada, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 17, 2024, at Wyandot Memorial Hospital.
Don was born Feb. 10, 1955, in Fostoria to the late Lloyd Martin and Doris Lousie (Wagner) Weinandy. He married Tammy Davis on July 26, 1986 and she survives in Alvada. Don is also survived by his children, Derek (Meagan) Weinandy, Magdalena (Mitchel Davis) Johns and Dylan Weinandy; a sister, Pamela (Mike) Painter; a sister-in-law, Jenni (Todd) Williams; two nieces and seven nephews.
He was also preceded in death by his brother, Rick Weinandy.
Don was a 1973 graduate of New Reigel High School. He worked closely with his father, who was one of the owners of Alvada Elevator. After graduation, Don worked various welding and millwright jobs before working for 40 years for Frey Roofing and Lumber in Kirby. Don was a faithful member of St. Peter and St. Paul Catholic Church in Alvada where he was a parish council member and served as an usher. Don was also a member of Knights of Columbus Council No. 1925 in Carey, Ohio. He was a Detroit Tigers fan and enjoyed watching NASCAR, an avid Dale Earnhardt Sr and Dale Earnhart Jr fan. Don was a kind-hearted individual. He was always willing to help anyone in a time of need. He also had a great sense of humor and always had a smart remark and always concluded his time with people by saying, "Glad you got to see me". Don was a loving husband, father, brother, uncle and friend. Don will be deeply missed by all those who knew him.
Visitation for Don will be from 3-7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 20, 2024, at Stombaugh-Batton & Snyder Funeral Home, 225 W. Findlay St., Carey, Ohio 43316. A funeral Mass will be celebrated in Don's honor at 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 21, 2024, at All Saints Parish, 39 N. Perry St., New Reigel, Ohio 44853, with the Rev. Tim Kummer officiating. Burial will follow at St. Peter and Paul Cemetery.
