Dannie Leroy Vermillion

Dannie Leroy Vermillion, 83, of Findlay, died Sunday, Oct. 23, 2022, at Blanchard Valley Hospital.

He was born Sept. 5, 1939, in Hancock County, the son of the late Orville and Grace Marie (Parker) Vermillion. He married Marilyn Karcher-Maag on Nov. 23, 1990, and she survives in Findlay.

Dannie is also survived by his son, Louis Vermillion of Findlay; stepsons, Dennis Maag of North Carolina, Robert Maag of Findlay, Kenneth Maag of Findlay, John Maag of Findlay, William Maag of Lima, and Thomas Maag of Lima; daughter, Debra (Jason) Brandt of Forest; stepdaughters, Diane (Rocky) Hartman of Jenera, Betty Drain of Marysville, Judy (Mike Stall, deceased) Heitmeyer of Findlay, and Sally (Scott) Ingram of Wyoming; 16 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; brother, Neil C. Vermillion of Ottawa; sister, Rose Wickert of Tucson, Arizona; and dog, Mitzi.

Dannie was employed at Whirlpool Corporation as a millwright for 34 years, retiring in 2001. He was also an Army veteran and member of Findlay Amvets, Legion, Moose, Eagles, and V.F.W. He enjoyed shooting pool in various leagues in the area with his friends and working with wood and metal as well as welding. Dannie also enjoyed country music, western movies, and feeding his squirrels.

Visitation will be 9 a.m. - 12 p.m. Friday, Oct. 28, 2022, at COLDREN-CRATES FUNERAL HOME, Findlay. Dannie's funeral will be 12 p.m. Friday at the funeral home with the Rev. Dr. Don Schiewer officiating. Burial will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery, Findlay, where members of Hancock County Veterans Memorial Squad will accord military honors.
