Charles Schmidt Obituary

Charles Fred Schmidt of rural Hartford, died on Monday, January 27, 2025.  He was 86.

Charles was born on March 2, 1938, in Emporia, Kansas, the son of Albert and Lucile Finch Schmidt.  Charles was a farmer and over the road truck driver.  He grew the food and then trucked it to feed the people.  Charles had a love for tractors and farming.  He was a kind and gentle soul, always thanking people if they did something for him.

He is survived by his sister, Alberta Brewer of Leavenworth; brother, Darrell Schmidt of Emporia; nieces and nephews Tracy Ashton, Jeff Schmidt, Rebecca Korgol, Sheila Palmer, Marlan Torrens.

Charles is preceded in death by his parents, brothers Theodore and Leonard Schmidt and sister Shirley Torrens.

Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., Sunday, February 2, 2025, at Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home, Emporia with the funeral at 10:30 a.m., Monday, February 3, 2025, at Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home with burial following at Maplewood Memorial Lawn Cemetery, Emporia.  Memorial contributions to SOS in Emporia can be sent in the care of Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home, P.O.
