Charles Buckland Obituary

Charles E. Buckland

Charles Edward "Charlie" Buckland, 87, of Carey, passed away Sunday, Sept. 17, 2023, at Primrose of Findlay.

Charlie was born Sept. 20, 1935, in Carey, to Graham and Mildred (Hotteling) Buckland and graduated from Carey High School in 1953. After graduating, Charlie began working for National Lime and Stone and later retired from The United States Post Office after more than 30 years of dedicated service. In addition to working at the quarry and post office, Charlie was a lifelong farmer.

Charles married Eileen Mott and together, they raised three children. Later, they divorced and he remarried Cindy Lutz who survives in Findlay.

Charlie enjoyed fishing trips in Canada with family and friends, spending time in his garden, and passing the time with Fred and Ferd Williams.

Charlie is also survived by his children, Robert (Tammy) Buckland of Carey, Cheryl (Larry) Buckland-Manley of Findlay, and Cindy Buckland of Arcadia; grandchildren, Bridgett (Jason) Mundy, Rich Gamby, Ben (Kortny) Buckland, Molly (Adam) Beach, and Bobbi (Brian) Thompson; and great-grandchildren, Isabelle, Lilli, Sam, Paige, Graham, Abel, Cece, Charley, and Violet.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and sisters, Annette Ulrich and Helen Rife.

Per Charlie's request, there will be no visitation or funeral. A private graveside service will be at Spring Grove Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Charlie's honor to The Dorcas Carey Public Library and may be sent to Stombaugh-Batton Funeral Home, 225 West Findlay St., Carey.
