Chandee (Saivandee) Aranya
Chandee (Saivandee) Aranya, 77 of Carey, passed away at 11:44 p.m. Tuesday, May 20, 2025, surrounded by family. Chandee was born March 12, 1948, in the village of Xieng Hon, Laos, the eldest daughter of Khamphin & Khamai Saivandee.
She married Boonchan Aranya in May 1975. They went on to have three daughters, Onsri, Chansom, and Cierra. In search of a better life and new opportunities, they made the courageous decision to immigrate to the United States in 1980, leaving behind the familiar to build a future for their family. As a full-time homemaker, she poured her heart into raising her children and played an irreplaceable role in building a life grounded in love, tradition, and sacrifice.
In addition to raising her daughters, she lovingly became the guardian of her eldest granddaughter, Malinda, whom she raised as her own. She was strong, had a bold spirit, was never one to hold back, and would tell you like it was. Her humor was sharp, opinions strong and her love unshakable. Chandee was a member of Wat Prathammongkhol Buddhist Temple, Alvada. Her fondest memories were made by her seven great-grandchildren, Leila, Kianna, Wesley, Libbiona, Carter, Jazyln, and Enzo. She brought laughter and unwavering strength to her family and community and was deeply loved by all who knew her.
Chandee is survived by her husband, Boonchan Aranya, of Carey; children, Onsri (Supha) Sengvanhpheng of Carey, Chansom (Khanthong) Thammaroth of Carey, and Cierra (Lucas) Aranya of Columbus; stepchildren, Saithong (Nom) Thavin of Findlay; grandchildren, Malinda Sengvanhpheng of Carey, Leslie Sengvanhpheng of Columbus, Diane Thammaroth of Carey, Andy Sengvanhpheng of Dayton, and MacKenzie Thammaroth of Cincinnati; sisters, Peng Chaialee and Kanya Saivandee of Carey.
