Carolyn "Sue" Ritter
Carolyn "Sue" Ritter, 79, of Carey, passed away unexpectedly at 3:45 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 30, 2023, at Independence House, Fostoria.
Sue was born Aug. 25, 1944, the daughter of John H. and Beatrice (Dill) May. She married Ray Jackson and they divorced. She then married the love of her life, Paul E. Ritter Sr., on Aug. 27, 1983, and he preceded her in death Dec. 1, 1993.
A social butterfly, Sue loved people and being involved in organizations. She was a member of Carey Conservation Club for 40 years and member of American Legion 344 Auxiliary and VFW 3759 Auxiliary for many years. She was very active in the VFW Poppy sales fund raiser for 18 years.
Sue enjoyed being in the kitchen cooking and baking and was known for her fried chicken and homemade biscuits. She used her skills as a cook at the former Indian Trail Nursing Home and American Legion, both in Carey.
Sue loved her entire family unconditionally. She would do what she could do to help whenever asked. However, the ongoing debate amongst family was who she loved more, them or Elvis Presley. Most believe it was Elvis. Sue was known for her great sense of humor and laugh. She loved to tease and be teased.
Sue is survived by three sons, Mark (Karen) Jackson, LeRoy Jackson, and Tim (Melissa) Jackson; 10 grandchildren, Joshua (Kanessa) Jackson, Kayla Jackson, Joey, Shawn, and Trevor Cole, Paula (Joshua) Risner, Holly Jackson, and Loran, Jacob, and Leann Spradlin; five great-grandchildren, Bella, Ellie, Finley, Karter, and Maiyah; one of her triplet sisters, Mary Lou (Bob) Campbell; and two other sisters, Bev Daughenbaugh and Cassie (Jeff) Fleming.
She was also preceded in death by her other triplet sister, Marilyn Jean Brooks; parents; another sister, Tina McLaughlin; and brother, Benny May.
Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 4, 2024, and 10 a.m. Friday, Jan. 5, 2024, until the time of Sue's service at 11 a.m., all at Stombaugh-Batton & Snyder Funeral Home, Carey. Chaplain Kathy Fenimore will officiate. A private graveside service will be at a later date at Spring Grove Cemetery, Carey.
