Carol J. Hornick

Carol J. Hornick, 80, of Findlay, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, Aug. 22, 2024, at Birchaven Village.

She was born Dec. 27, 1943, in Indiana, Pennsylvania, to Dale A. and Kathryn S. Bell. Carol married Thomas H. McGough on Sept. 12, 1964, and they divorced. They had three children, Elaine M. Brannan of Michigan, Patrick T. McGough of Indiana, and Brian J. McGough of Indiana. Carol had seven grandchildren, Nathan Brannan, Evan Brannan, Ryan Brannan, Phoebe McGough, Dugan McGough, Ryker McGough, and Ruddik McGough.

Carol later married Kenneth E. Hornick on Oct. 30, 1987. She had two stepchildren, Kimberly D. Hornick and Eric E. Hornick. She had one brother, Dale A. (Tim) Bell of Spring Hill, Florida, and one sister, the late Barbara Leonardo of Indiana, Pennsylvania.

Carol was a graduate of Indiana High School in Indiana, Pennsylvania. She also graduated from Pittsburgh School of Nursing in 1964. She was a longtime member of Norcrest Church and later Cornerstone Baptist Church in Findlay.

She was employed as an Industrial Nurse by Union Carbide Corporation in Fostoria and later at Whirlpool Corporation in Findlay. Carol was physically active with running and tennis, two of her favorites for many years. She loved to cook and was well-known among friends for her gourmet meals. Carol enjoyed volunteering with Hospice and comforted many patients with readings from God's word.

Visitation for friends and family will be 1-2 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 27, 2024, at HUFFORD FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 1500 Manor Hill Rd., Findlay, 419-422-1500. Carol's graveside service will follow at Tawa Cemetery, Benton Ridge, with Pastor Jim Klausing presiding.

In Carol's honor, memorial contributions can be made to City Mission of Findlay, 510 W. Main Cross St., Findlay, Ohio, 45840.
