Carol Benroth Obituary

Carol Benroth

Our beloved Carol Sue passed away Tuesday, Jan. 23, 2024, surrounded by her family after fighting a health issue unknown for quite some time, but later diagnosed as ALS.

She was born Nov. 25, 1943, in Findlay, to Welton "Bud" and Margaret "Nita" Frantz.

Carol was married to Russell Colburn, who preceded her in death, and Thomas Leatherman, whom she is since divorced. She married Steven Benroth on Jan. 16, 1982, and he survives.

She is survived by her sister, Shirley Nulton of Findlay; daughters, Chris (Daryl) Wilson of McComb, Kelly (Herb) Caslow of Killeen, Texas, Cathy (Mark) Manz of Paulding, and Nicole (Ben) Ricker of Payne, Ohio; 12 grandchildren she was blessed with; and 30 great-grandchildren.

Carol was also preceded in death by her brother, William Frantz.

Carol was a wonderful mother, grandmother, aunt, cousin, and friend. She loved her family fiercely! She had many jobs over the years, but her time as a caregiver was her greatest joy, choosing to care for those who needed extra assistance. She had a love for old movies, flowers, and all genres of music (including some hip hop music, but as she always claimed "she just liked the beat"). She was also amazing at cross-stitching and crocheting. From a spiritual side, she had a wonderful belief in a paradise Earth where there would be no more pain, suffering, or sadness and she would live forever! She held onto that faith until the very end!

Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Monday, Jan. 29, 2024, at Dooley Funeral Home, 5761 SR 500, Payne, Ohio.

Carol's service will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 30, 2024, at the funeral home with visitation from 9:30-10:30 a.m.

She will be laid to rest at St. Paul Cemetery, Paulding.

The family requests that any monetary donations be made to either Paulding County Nurses Auxiliary or ALS association.
