Carl Richard "Dick" Cole

Carl Richard "Dick" Cole, 73, of Alvada, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family Tuesday, Aug. 6, 2024, at Bridge Hospice Care Center in Findlay.

He was born Dec. 5, 1950, in Fostoria, to David and Esther (Schubert) Cole. He married the love of his life, Marjorie (Dulgar), on Aug. 3, 1974, and she preceded him in death Feb. 18, 2005.

Dick is survived by two daughters, Caryn (Jay) Sutherland of Alvada and Courtney Cole of Findlay; grandchildren, Hannah, Caleb, and Levi; brother, Bill Cole of Olathe, Kansas; and sister, Janet Welly of Findlay.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Jerry, Ron, David, and Dennis; and wife, Marjorie.

He was a lifelong pilot, flying for Hancor (ADS) and Werk-Brau, and later American Electric Power in Columbus. Dick loved Jesus and his family dearly. He enjoyed farming with his cousin and taking his grandchildren on many tractor and combine rides. He was also an avid fan of The Ohio State Buckeyes and taking rides on his John Deere Gator.

Dick was a member of Living Hope Church in Findlay, where he served as a Deacon and was a member of the Mission Planning Team. He proudly served in U.S. Army as a helicopter pilot from 1970-1972. He loved serving God on mission trips, especially to Echo Ranch in Alaska.

Visitation will be 3-7 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 8, 2024, at COLDREN-CRATES FUNERAL HOME, 205 W. Sandusky Street, Findlay, Ohio, 45840, and 10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 9, 2024, until the time of Dick's funeral at 11 a.m. at Living Hope Church, 2515 Heatherwood Dr., Findlay, with Living Hope pastors presiding. Burial will follow at Union Cemetery with military honors provided by Hancock County Veteran Memorial Squad.
