Bruce Andonian Obituary

Bruce Barton Andonian

Bruce Barton Andonian, 58, of Kansas City, Missouri, and formerly of McComb, passed away Monday, September 29, 2025, at Blanchard Valley Hospital. Born to Marie and Don Andonian, April 8, 1967, Bruce grew up with a sharp wit, a dependable heart, and a sense of humor that could light up any room. He was the kind of guy who could fix anything, laugh at everything, and make everyone feel like family.

From the time he was in high school, Bruce knew computers were his calling. He had a long, successful career as a computer programmer and eventually vice president of IT, a role he loved so much that it became a running joke that he never really retired. He just kept "consulting," which looked suspiciously like still working full-time because he genuinely enjoyed it.

But his greatest joy was in helping people. He had a gift for teaching, mentoring, and lifting others up to become their best selves. He made you feel like you belonged and believed in your potential. He was a friend, a guide, and a steady hand in both work and life.

After learning to scuba dive, he fell in love with the water-and eventually with the idea of sailing. That passion led him to buy Windchill, a sailboat he and his wife restored with loving care. Before he passed, he proudly crossed a major item off his bucket list by sailing Windchill from Mississippi to Maryland, a journey that perfectly captured his adventurous spirit.

He was a lifelong outdoorsman, hiking, running marathons, rock climbing, and a second-degree black belt. He never met a stranger, or an Irish pub he didn't like, and his sense of humor was the kind that made you laugh until your stomach hurt.

He was also a lifelong Ohio State fan-go Bucks! - and took great joy in texting his nephews and son-in-law whenever their favorite teams were losing. His sports commentary was equal parts clever and relentless and always delivered with love (and a little mischief).

He is survived by his wife, and BGSU Falcon Flame, Paula Andonian; children, Alex (Phil) Frihart, Jesse Andonian, and Mason Andonian; grandson, Jameson Frihart; father, Don Andonian; two sisters, Beth Andonian Fenstermaker (Craig Fenstermaker) and Katie Andonian Grubb (Bill Grubb); four nieces, Sydney Pearson, Barret Pearson, Leia Grubb, and Faith (Joey) Mehalic; and three nephews, Dylan (Jaime) Meares, Logan (Alli Bourgeois) Meares, and Wilson Grubb, all of whom were lucky enough to know the joy of his jokes, the calm of his presence, and the strength of his love.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Marie Andonian, whose memory he carried with love and tenderness.

He was also an early adopter of technology, especially when it came to AI. From planning trips to fixing the dishwasher, he used AI for just about everything. So, it's only fitting that we use it to help write this obituary. Honestly, he'd probably be proud... and maybe a little annoyed he didn't get to do it himself.

Visitation for Bruce will be from 3-6 p.m. Friday, October 3, 2025, at Hanneman Funeral Home, 370 Park Drive South, McComb, Ohio, 45858.

My sincere condolences to Paula and all the Andonian children/Grandchild.
My son, Matthew and I met Bruce and Paula via Olathe Rush Soccer Club. Jesse's dad (Matthew always referred to Bruce) was one of the kindest people we met during our years in the club. Bruce was an amazing father and the best advocate for his children.

He and his wife were one of the 1st to welcome us warmly into the soccer family. Bruce and Paula always treated us such kindness and respect.
I loved how Bruce and Paula would greet each other at the soccer field "Hey you" with so much love for each other.

Thinking of you all during this difficult time. So sorry for you loss, Paula. Hugs and Love to the Andonian Family.

I sure enjoyed playing football with Bruce and always welcomed his contagious enthusiasm and smiles. Some of our most recent conversations included details of his exciting sailing adventures. I am so glad he got a chance to pursue his dream of sailing the Gulf of America and the Atlantic Ocean.
