Billy Price Obituary

Billy G. Price

Billy G. Price, 78, of Wharton, passed away peacefully at 12:20 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 9, 2024, at Bridge Hospice Care Center, Findlay, with family by his side.

Billy was born Jan. 24, 1945, in Findlay, the son of Roy R. "Dick" and Margaret C. (Secrist) Price. He married Ruth Ann Hougendobler on Aug. 14, 1966, at the Methodist Church in Forest. Ruth Ann survives in Arlington.

Billy graduated from Riverdale High School in 1963, the first graduating class of Riverdale. He followed his first love for many years, farming. He also drove a school bus for Riverdale Schools from April, 2002 to August, 2015. In 1989, he began a career as an insurance agent with then Farmer's Mutual Insurance, now Wyandot Mutual Insurance Agency. Just a few days ago, he decided it was time to retire as the last independent agent with them.

Billy proudly served his country in U.S. Army National Guard from 1965-1967 and was the top marksman. He also served the citizens of Richland Township as a Trustee and was a member of Wyandot County Farm Bureau and Wharton Methodist Church.

Billy was the family photographer and videographer. He loved attending all of his children's and grandchildren's sporting events and programs with a camera always at the ready. He and Ruth Ann enjoyed many years of watching the state girls' basketball tournament in Columbus, as well as, being a big Ohio State fan.

He will be missed by his wife; three children, Jeff (Linda) Price of Piqua, Chad (Raquel) Price of Carey, and Mark (Nicole) Price of Vanlue; six grandchildren, Treg, Leanne, Wyatt, Faith, Richard, and Waylon; brother, Jon (Patricia) Price of Mt. Blanchard; and two sisters-in-law, Elaine Price of Mt. Blanchard and Barbara Martin of Findlay.

Billy was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Joe; and two brothers-in-law, Thomas Martin and Raymond "Hougie" Hougendobler Jr.

Visitation will be 1-5 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 14, 2024, at Stombaugh-Batton & Snyder Funeral Home, Carey.

Billy's funeral will be 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 15, 2024, at the funeral home with Pastor Rex Roth officiating. Burial will follow at Wharton-Richland Union Cemetery, Wharton.

Memorial contributions may be given to Flags for Veterans. Billy was passionate about every veteran receiving a flag upon their death. Checks may be made to the funeral home to ensure no veteran goes without an American Flag.

My first memory of him and his wife is parents of school children who my first husband Jeff snook taught. They were wonderful parents. Then he took so many pictures of Maliah´s volleyball team as his granddaughter played with them. Mark your dad was a good man Linda Snook Mikkelsen
