Bernard L. Berg

Bernard L. Berg, 88, of Leipsic, passed away at 7:51 a.m. Monday, Feb. 19, 2024, at Mercy Health Putnam Medical Center, Glandorf.

He was born Aug. 8, 1935, in Leipsic, to Peter and Nora Ann (Wilson) Berg. He married Rita M. Busick on Oct. 22, 1955, and she survives in Leipsic.

Bernard is also survived by two children, Richard (Mary Ann) Berg of Deshler and David (Jane) Berg of Lima; seven grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and brother, Richard (Kim) Berg of Leipsic.

He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Tamara; son, Douglas; brother, William Berg; and sister, Mary (Robert) Courtney.

Bernard retired from Tuttle Construction, Lima, after over 30 years of service. He previously worked at Allied-Egri, Leipsic. He was a member of Labor Union 574, Marion, and Leipsic United Methodist Church. Bernard was the local historian for the Village of Leipsic and had quite a collection of local memorabilia. He enjoyed tinkering in his workshop, going to flea markets, and eating at all his favorite restaurants. Bernard was an avid Ohio State Buckeyes and Cleveland Indians fan.

Bernard's funeral will be 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 22, 2024, at LOVE-HEITMEYER FUNERAL HOME, Leipsic, with Pastor Ruth Carter-Crist officiating. Burial will follow at Sugar Ridge Cemetery, Leipsic. Visitation will be 2-8 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 21, 2024, and 10-11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
