Barbara Snyder Obituary

Barbara J. Snyder

Barbara "Barb" Snyder, born Oct. 18, 1942, passed away peacefully surrounded by the love of her family.

Barb was a devoted mother to two daughters, Lisa Saums (Jim) and Kelly Parker (Douglas), loving grandmother to Katelyn Noble (Adam), Megan Lauger (Larry), Lyndsey Frenzel (Jon), and Lauryn Parker, great-grandmother to Cora Noble, Quinn Noble, Clementine Lauger, Theo Lauger, and Hudson Lauger, and great affection for her stepdaughter, Cynthia Ramsdell (Greg), Mike Snyder (Vickie) and their children, Nate Ramsdell, Emma Jordon, Toby Ramsdell (Nataliana), Bennett Ramsdell, Hunter Snyder, and Jace Snyder. Barb also had a special place in her heart for her nieces and nephews and formed many loving relationships with them over the years.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Colonel Daniel Snyder; parents, James and Barbara Dawkins; and cherished brother, Don Dawkins.

To know Barb Snyder was to adore her. Her sharp wit and infectious humor brought joy to everyone she encountered. She had an incredible gift for making others feel valued and cared for, and in return, she was deeply loved by those around her.

A first-generation American, Barb was the proud daughter of Scottish immigrants. She graduated from Findlay High School and studied at Ohio University. Barb had a long and meaningful career at The University of Findlay, where she worked in the Admissions Office and Mazza Gallery. A loyal supporter of veterans, she was passionate about American Veterans Organization (Amvets).

Barb's greatest love, however, was for her family. She cherished her children, their spouses, and her grandchildren, as well as her great-grandchildren. She also had a deep passion for music, good friends, The Ohio State Buckeyes, and The University of Findlay Oilers.

Barb will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all whose lives she touched. She was a shining light in the lives of so many, offering kindness, compassion, and joy to everyone around her. Her legacy of love and care will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.

Visitation for family and friends will be 4-7 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 16, 2024, at Kirkpatrick-Behnke Funeral Home, 500 Lima Avenue, Findlay. Barb's memorial service will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 17, 2024, at First Presbyterian Church, 2330 South Main Street, Findlay, with the Rev. Jessica Commeret officiating.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her memory to Bridge Hospice, 15100 Birchaven Lane, Findlay, or The University of Findlay's Mazza Museum, 1000 N. Main Street, Findlay, Ohio, 45840.

Barb, you were the coolest FCC member. Always kind, you sensed a time out for a chat to others. I will miss you.

I met Barb when she worked in the Mazza Museum's office. She always had a smile on her face, was helpful, well-organized, fun, and enjoyed people.

To Lisa and Kelly and your families, my deepest sympathies on the loss of your Mom. She was special! Barb was one of the most influential and best parts of my life while attending then Findlay College. It was a blast working with her in Admissions for most of that time. To all of the "boys" as she referred to us, Barb was generous, funny, sharp-witted at Hell...especially when she tried to keep us in line...and we loved her for it. She will be missed by many. It is hard to imagine how many lives she brightened up. I count myself as one of the fortunate who was priviledged to have known her. Love you Barbie, rest in peace. You were the best.

Barb was one of the most influential and best parts of my life at Findlay. I was blessed and absolutely loved working with her in Admissions for most of my college years. She was generous, fun, sharp as Hell, very caring and we all loved her for it. Barbie may be gone from this life, but she will never be forgotten.

Barbara was such a kind and funny soul. She was a wonderful friend and neighbor to my widowed mother-in-law, Pat. We will all miss her terribly. Sending love, light and prayers to all of the family.
