Allen Keith Myers
Allen Keith Myers, 90, passed away peacefully at 6:45 a.m. Monday, January 12, 2026, at Blanchard Valley Hospital Bridge Hospice, leaving this world much quieter. A longtime resident of McComb, Allen lived a full, meaningful life marked by service, laughter, and deep love for his family.
Born August 8, 1935, in Hoytville, Allen graduated from Jackson Township High School and went on to wear many hats throughout his life, sometimes literally. He proudly served his community through the Myers family Gulf Gas Station in Hoytville, Mayor of Hoytville, Hoytville Chief of Police, and retired as the Custodian at McComb Local School. No matter where you ran into him, chances were good you'd spot him in his signature cowboy hat and boots.
On February 19, 1955, Allen married the love of his life, Catherine "Katie" (Copus). Together they built a life rooted in family, community, and plenty of shared laughs. Katie preceded him in death in 2019, and we like to think she's already told him to behave.
Allen had a gift for enjoying life's simple pleasures. He loved collecting police patches, sitting on his porch swing, watching the birds, and making the rounds with his buddies at McDonald's and the North Baltimore truck stop. He was a familiar face at the Findlay Village Mall, the McComb Reservoir, and anywhere there was good company and better conversation. Most of all, Allen loved spending time with his family and was a proud, enthusiastic supporter at his grandchildren's and great-grandchildren's events. He also never missed a chance to tell or enjoy a good joke.
Allen was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Catherine (Copus) Myers; father and mother, Clarence and Marjorie (Mizer) Myers; and siblings, Donna Plotts, Patricia Conkey, and Richard Myers.
He is survived by his son, Darrell Myers of McComb; his daughter, Kay (Mike) DeWeese of Findlay; his grandchildren, Chanelle (Adam) McCampbell of Dublin, Ohio; Lance (Hannah) DeWeese of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; and Amber (Dee) Pleasant of Clayton, North Carolina; and his great-grandchildren, Hudson and Harrison McCampbell, Nina and Tucker DeWeese, and Michael Rey, Dominic and Leilani Pleasant, all of whom brought him tremendous pride and joy. He is also survived by sisters-in-law, Mary Copus and Edith Myers.
Visitation for Allen will be from 9:30 a.m. until time of his celebration of life service at 11:30 a.m. Friday, January 16, 2026, at Hoytville United Methodist Church, 19921 East Church Street ,
Hoytville, Ohio, 43529. Burial will follow at Wingston Cemetery, Liberty Township, Ohio.
Allen Myers will be greatly missed by his loved ones and remembered for his good humor, familiar cowboy hat and boots, and the many moments that made knowing him special.
We would like to extend a special thanks to our angel, RaNay Ziegler, for making sure he didn't go hungry and for always being there for him, as well as his amazing neighbors in the McComb community, and the compassionate staff at Bridge Hospice.
Written by Nina, Hudson, Harrison and Tucker, four of his great-grandchildren who loved him dearly and were by his side until the end of his rodeo.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hoytville United Methodist Church, HYCO, or Bridge Hospice.
