William "Bill" Wesley Boyd

William "Bill" Wesley Boyd, 94, of Rawson, went home to be with his Lord on Tuesday, Aug. 1, 2023.

He was born Jan. 8, 1929, in Fostoria, to Mildred Delilah (Bauman Boyd) Benner and Carl Addison Boyd.

Bill married Dorothy Ellen (Wyans) Boyd on Oct. 23, 1950, and she survives in Rawson. They were married 73 years.

He had two daughters, Jean Alane Boyd of Rawson and Judy Anne Boyd of Alvada. He also had five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his infant daughter, June Elaine Boyd; mother, Mildred Boyd Benner; father, Carl A. Boyd; stepfather, Orran W. Benner; brother, Jim Boyd; and sister, Wilma Wilson.

Bill was a carpenter and member of the Carpenter's Union in Lima until the time of his death. He was a farmer. When it came to his work, he was a perfectionist and always took pride in a hard day's work. He was a family man. He loved his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren with everything in him. He was a complex man of many talents, interests, and characteristics. He was an avid outdoorsman, collector, and storyteller. He enjoyed whittling, whistling songs, listening to country music, trivia, and listening to good jokes. He was a comedian. He loved to make people laugh. He believed laughter and song were great healers. To know him was to love him. He will be missed by his family and friends.

Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 4, 2023, and 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 5, 2023, until the time of Bill's funeral at 11 a.m. at HOENING & SON FUNERAL HOME, 133 W. Tiffin St., Fostoria, Ohio, 44830. Pastor Mike Holcomb will preside. Burial will follow at Fountain Cemetery.
