Vera Jean Sheets

Vera Jean Sheets, 85, of Arlington, passed away Saturday, February 14, 2026, at The Manor at Greendale. Vera was born at home on the family farm January 24, 1941, to the late Carl and Ruth (Hannewald) Wilson.

She attended Arlington High School and graduated in 1959. Following high school, she worked for two physicians before graduating from Bluffton University in 1983. Vera married Wayne E. Sheets Jr., November 4, 1962, and he preceded her in death March 17, 2022. She is survived by two sons, Kevin (Kathy) Sheets of Gahanna and Kreg (Chris) Sheets of Arlington; six grandchildren, Emily (Nick) Snoad, Morgan (Elijah Kuska) Sheets, Melissa Sheets, Logan (Sophie) Sheets, Nate Sheets, and Abbie Sheets; and two great-grandchildren, Benson and Sullivan Sheets. Vera is also survived by her sister, Connie Lou Cramer of Upland, Indiana; and brother-in-law, Mark (Peggy) Crates; and sister-in-law, Janet (Cloyce) Baker.

She was preceded in death by her grandson, Kevin W. Sheets Jr.; brother, Ray Wilson; and sister, Lois Ann Crates; and brother-in-law, Jerry Cramer.

Vera was an elementary school teacher at Arlington Local Schools for 25 years. She was a proud supporter of anything and everything Arlington! Vera was also a lifelong member of St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church, Jenera, where she was active in many areas, including directing the Sr. Choir, God's Ordinary People (GOP), teaching Vacation Bible School, serving on church council, worship committee, women of the church, chairman of the outreach program, among many other things. She loved sports and was an avid Ohio State Buckeye and Cleveland Sports fan. She cherished the family vacations at Higgins Lake, Michigan.

Visitation will be from 3-7 p.m. Friday, February 20, 2026, at St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church, Jenera. Funeral service will begin at 11 a.m. Saturday, February 21, 2026, at St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church, where family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until time of service. Burial will follow at the parish cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in memory of Vera to St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church or Arlington School Foundation. Arrangements have been entrusted to CRATES FUNERAL HOME, Arlington.
