Valerie Roynon Obituary
Valerie J. Roynon, 89, of Findlay, passed away Thursday, Sept. 22, 2022.
She was born Aug. 13, 1933, in Findlay, to the late Deke and Ruth (Miller) Abbott. Valerie married Fred J. Roynon Jr. on April 6, 1955, and he preceded her in death Nov. 18, 2014.
Valerie is survived by twin sons, Bradley (Kathy) Roynon of Empire, Michigan, and Douglas Roynon of Findlay; grandchildren, Emily (Aaron) Medvick of Raleigh, North Carolina, Joseph Roynon of Fremont, Taylor (Breezi) Roynon of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Mallory Roynon of Brooklyn, New York, Westley (Jenna) Roynon of Grandview Heights, and Christopher Roynon of Phoenix, Arizona; great-grandchildren, Joe, Gemma, and Zoe Hoppert, Marley Roynon, Carter Roynon, and Graham Roynon; and two brothers, Deke (Jean) Abbott Jr. of Troy, North Carolina, and Robert (Zoe) Abbott of Beaufort, South Carolina.
She was also preceded in death by a grandson, Brian Roynon.
Valerie was a 1951 graduate of Findlay High School. She then graduated from Ohio University. She was a secretary for Mr. Hardwick, V.P. at Marathon Oil Company and later at Whittier Elementary School. She enjoyed golfing, social gathering and clubs, and wintering in Fort Myers Beach, Florida, with her family and friends.
Valerie was a member of Chi Omega Sorority, Panhellenic Society, St. Andrew's United Methodist Church, and was a past member of Rutherford B. Hayes Presidential Center and Fremont and Findlay Country Clubs. Fred and Val spent countless hours with their grandchildren, attending many ball games, horse shows, recitals, and military events.
Val's funeral will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 24, 2022, at COLDREN-CRATES FUNERAL HOME, Findlay, with Pastor Kathy Davis officiating. Burial will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery. Friends can visit 9-11 a.m. Saturday.
Memorial contributions can be made in memory of Valerie to St. Andrew's United Methodist Church, Alzheimer's Association, or Bridge Home Health and Hospice.
