Thomas Victor Oller
Thomas Victor "Tom" Oller, 85, of Findlay, passed to Eternal Glory peacefully on Thursday, March 30, 2023.
Tom was born April 4, 1937, in Bloomville, to Clarence Victor and Mildred Emmaline (Stuckey) Oller, who preceded him in death. Tom has a sister that survives, Nola (Howard) Heilman of Cridersville.
Tom graduated from Bloomville High School in 1955 and had several jobs in the Seneca County area before being drafted into U.S. Army, where he served from 1960-1962. While in the Army, he served as a clerk at Fort Monmouth in New Jersey. After his service to his country, Tom returned to Bloomville where he worked for several Electrical Supply companies before moving to Findlay in 1963. Once in Findlay, he began working for Findlay Electric Supply, where he remained for several years. During his time at Findlay Electric, Tom taught himself to become an electrician and he worked for Hancraft supplying machinery to Hancor Tile (now ADS), and doing various electrical work in the Findlay area. In 1964, Tom was hired by United States Postal Service, where he remained until his retirement in 1991. While working for the Postal Service, Tom was a mail carrier, postal clerk, Maintenance Supervisor, and Bulk Mailing and self-service postal vending machine representative.
In 1964, Tom met Zelma (Eleanor) Swartz at Parkview Church of Christ (Christian Church), where they were married Nov. 25, 1964.
Tom and Eleanor were blessed with two sons, Timothy Oller of Findlay and Jeffrey Oller of Groveport and three grandchildren, Olivia Oller, Owen Oller (deceased), and Orianna Oller, all of Lancaster.
While at Parkview, Tom served, at various times, as a Deacon, Elder, Head of Building & Grounds Committee, Trustee, and Sunday School Teacher. Tom and Eleanor's over 50years of marriage, as well as their love for each other, and for God, set an amazing example for many people. They often professed that they had never had a fight in all of their years together and it was evident that they cared deeply about one another, and that their statement was true. Their love affair ended with Eleanor's passing in 2018 and Tom pined daily for the love of his life!
Tom's outgoing personality and love of people brought joy to anyone who had the opportunity to meet him. His wisdom and intelligence provided guidance to countless numbers. Tom will be missed by so many, and especially his family!
The family would like to thank the staffs of Primrose Retirement Community, The Heritage, and Bridge Hospice for the care and love shown to Tom.
Visitation will be 1-4 p.m. Sunday, April 2, 2023, at COLDREN CRATES FUNERAL HOME, 205 West Sandusky Street, Findlay. Tom's funeral will be 11 a.m. Monday, April 3, 2023, at the funeral home with his son, Tim Oller, officiating. Burial will follow at Benton Ridge Cemetery.
