Thomas Mitchell Obituary

Dr. Thomas Wesley "Tom" Mitchell

Dr. Thomas "Tom" Wesley Mitchell, 66, of Findlay, was welcomed to the presence of his Lord Monday, September 8, 2025, while surrounded by loving family.

He will forever be remembered for his leadership, the sparkle in his eyes, kind demeanor, strength, contagious laugh, and, above all, his steadfast faith.

Guided by his philosophy of "God first, family second, and work third," Tom was a devoted husband who loved his wife, Ginger (Bennett) Mitchell, for nearly 44 years as of September 12, 2025, "as Christ loves the church" (Ephesians 5:25). Likewise, he loved his children dearly, Ronald J. and Cera Mitchell, Pauline (Mitchell) and Zachary Phillips, Leah (Mitchell) and Andrew Conner, and "raised them up in the way they should go" (Proverbs 22:6). His loving legacy continues with his grandchildren, Elizabeth, Thomas, Clara Mitchell, and Theodore Phillips.

A disciple of Christ, cleverly disguised as a dentist, Tom cared for the person in front of him more than himself. His dedication to his profession was fueled by his desire to "work for the Lord with all his heart" (Colossians 3:23), and he quite literally brought smiles to the faces of everyone he encountered. His impact spread much farther than his career, both in his local community and abroad, partnering with organizations like Mercy Ships. Tom was multifaceted and, in his own words, "did what it took." He was a visionary and accomplished much.

Tom was born November 16, 1958, in Akron, the son of the late Ronald and Patricia (Thompson) Mitchell. He was the beloved brother of Robert (Lois) Mitchell, Deborah (Alfred) Ciraldo, and James (Catherine) Mitchell. He is preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Deborah.

He graduated from Firestone High School in Akron in 1977. He earned a bachelor's degree in education from The Ohio State University and later received a doctorate in dentistry from Indiana University. Tom was a member of Living Hope Church, where he also served as a deacon, community group leader and family group leader.

He will be deeply missed by his wife, family and many friends.

The Mitchell family invites you to join us for the entirety of services celebrating Tom's life. Visitation will be from 1-3 p.m. and 5-7 p.m. Saturday, September 13, 2025, at Living Hope Church, 2515 Heatherwood Drive, Findlay.A celebration of life service will begin at 1 p.m. Sunday, September 14, 2025, at Bishop Cemetery, 15477 Township Highway 74, with Pastor Blair Hayward officiating. Please meet at Coldren-Crates Funeral Home, 205 W. Sandusky St., Findlay, for a processional that will be leaving promptly at 12:30 p.m.

Deepest sympathy to Ginger and the entire Mitchell Family for their loss. Dr. Tom was a person that brought smiles and laughter to those of use who had the privilege to know him. He will be missed.
I met Tom just before he entered Dental School thru my boss who happened to be Tom's brother in law. I got to work with him later when he was helping the office out after my bosses surgery.
My heart goes out to his entire family and relatives. Rest in Peace Tom. God bless!
