Thomas Lawrence Lonyo

Thomas Lawrence Lonyo, 80, of Findlay, died Monday, March 13, 2023, at Birchaven Village, Findlay.

He was born July 19, 1942, in Findlay, the son of the late Richard and Margaret (Boutwell) Lonyo. He married Glendora Eileen Osborn on July 26, 1965, and she preceded him in death Feb. 19, 2023.

Thomas' survivors include his children, Kathy J. (Darin) Hassan, Thomas R. (Deborah) Lonyo, and Rex A. Lonyo; six grandchildren, Erik (Aishlin) Hassan, Jamie (Andrew) Mauer, Shawn (Ashley) Lonyo, Elizabeth Lonyo, Zachary Lonyo, and Jordan Lonyo; nine great-grandchildren, Cydney Maurer, Carson Maurer, Caden Maurer, Cammie Maurer, Declan Hassan, Tighe Hassan, Zea Lonyo, Kaia Lonyo, Baker Lonyo, and Nolan Phillips; brother, Robert (Debra) Martin; sister, Nancy Corder; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; brother, George Martin; and sisters, Betty Angus and Margie Kunkel.

Thomas was a captain in Findlay Fire Department, retiring in 1990 after 25 years of service and taught fire school at Bowling Green State University. He worked with various excavators including Helms and Son's Excavating. Thomas was also an active member of Field and Stream Bow Hunting Club, Van Buren.

Visitation will be 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. Monday, March 20, 2023, at COLDREN-CRATES FUNERAL HOME, Findlay. Thomas's funeral will be 1 p.m. Monday at the funeral home with Pastor Shane Helms officiating. Burial will follow at McComb Union Hill Cemetery.
