Teresia A. Gerten

Teresia A. Gerten, 82, of Leipsic, died at 4:09 p.m. Thursday, March 27, 2025, at The Meadows of Leipsic. She was born March 24, 1943, at home in Leipsic to the late Edward and Mary (Rieman) Meyer. On July 25, 1964, she married Edgar I. Gerten. He preceded her in death September 1, 2002.

Survivors include seven children, Natalie (Jeff) Harmon of Tiffin, Rachelle (Brad) Conine of Ottawa, Edgar F. Gerten of McComb, Gene Gerten of Leipsic, Stanley (Amanda) Gerten of Leipsic, Sandy (Tim) Gross of Newnan, Georgia, and Sue (Sean) Dennis of Grand Blanc, Michigan; 17 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; five sisters; and three brothers.

She was also preceded in death by four grandchildren and a sibling.

Teresia was a homemaker and a registered nurse. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Leipsic, Altar Rosary Society and Catholic Ladies of Columbia. Teresia volunteered for many different organizations throughout the years, such as Putnam County Cancer Assistance Program (CAP), Red Cross, calling bingo at various nursing homes and Putnam County Council of Aging, where she was past president. She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Funeral Mass will begin at 10 a.m. Monday, March 31, 2025, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Leipsic, with the Rev. Randy Giesige officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 2-8 p.m. Sunday, March 30, 2025, at LOVE-HEITMEYER FUNERAL HOME, Leipsic and one hour prior to Mass at St. Mary's Parish Life Center. A C. L. of C. rosary service will begin at 7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Putnam County Cancer Assistance Program (CAP) or for Masses at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Leipsic.
