Sunne Joyce Preston was born on May 27, 1940, in Council Bluffs, Iowa to Louis and Viola Marie (Porter) Boehler. She graduated from Logan High School in 1958. After high school, she worked cleaning at the Logan Rooms and enjoyed taking art courses in acrylics at Dana College in Blair, Nebraska. On July 19, 1963, Sunne was united in marriage to Eugene Jacques and they were blessed with three daughters. Sunne moved to Dover, Delaware and obtained her degree as an RN from Wesley College. She was one of two nurses in Delaware that were bioterrorism nurses, and a portion of her job was teaching about smallpox. Sunne married the love of her life, John Preston, on December 12, 1989, in Dover. Along with her nursing career, Sunne started and ran a business called “All About Herbs”.
Sunne was a lifelong lover of music and led her church choir. Along with painting, she enjoyed growing herbs in her garden, a trait that she passed on to all three of her daughters. Although Sunne lived for a time away, she always found her way back to Iowa, her “HOME”.
Sunne died on Saturday, February 8, 2025, surrounded by ones she loved, at Mercy Hospital in Council Bluffs, Iowa at the age of 84 years, eight months and 12 days.
