Steven Youngpeter Obituary
Steven L. Youngpeter passed away Thursday, Jan. 12, 2023, with his family at his side.
Steve was born July 7, 1954, in Lima, Ohio, to Marilyn and Hilary Youngpeter, who preceded him in death.
He is survived by his brothers, Bill Youngpeter (Jill) of West Salem and Don Youngpeter (Kathy) of Hamilton; sister, Beth Crusa (Chuck) of Findlay; and nieces and nephews, Greg Youngpeter, Jill Lotz, Patrick Youngpeter, Ashley Crusa, Christopher Youngpeter, Kevin Youngpeter, Toni Voorhees, and Madi Youngpeter.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Julie Youngpeter.
Steve was born an artist. After he graduated from Findlay High School in 1972, he received his bachelors degree in Fine Arts from The Columbus College of Art and Design. He then headed to Jonesboro, Arkansas, where he received another bachelors degree in Fine Arts from The Arkansas State University. Having two bachelor degrees in Fine Arts wasn't enough for Steve. He moved to Grand Forks, North Dakota, where he received his Master of Fine Arts degree from The University of North Dakota.
Over the years, Steven won multiple awards for his watercolor, pencil, charcoal, and oil drawings. His passion was drawing machinery, engines, farm implements, and cars, but his talents didn't stop here. He never painted animals, but when he was asked to paint a portrait of a horse named Possum, he took on the challenge. His artwork was stunning and his niece, Madi, can forever treasure the painting from her uncle Steve. Many other relatives also proudly display his artwork in their homes.
Steve was a member of Saint Michael's Catholic Church, Findlay. A celebration of his life will take place in the spring so that all of his friends and family can attend to honor a man who was quiet and shy, but gifted in ways that most can only dream about.
