Sandra Orians

Sandra Jean Orians, 76, of Carey, passed away peacefully Friday, Aug. 18, 2023, surrounded by her family.

Sandy was born April 17, 1947, in Defiance, to Pete and Madeline (Pierpaoli) Link, who preceded her in death. In 1951, they moved to Upper Sandusky where the family owned and operated Link Monuments. She graduated from Upper Sandusky High School in 1965.

Sandy married Michael Orians on Feb. 12, 1971, at St. Peters Catholic Church, Upper Sandusky.

Sandy is survived by her husband, Mike Orians of Carey; daughters, Kelly (Brian) Hackworth of Carey, Stefanie (James) Madison of Findlay, and Brooke (Ryan) Imke of Findlay; grandchildren, Adrienne and Adam Hackworth, Allie and Ruby Madison, and Carter and Evan Imke; brothers, Larry (Diane) Link of Worthington and Dick Link of Grove City; and many nieces and nephews.

After graduating high school, Sandy worked in Upper Sandusky as a receptionist at the medical offices of doctors Rhodes, Solacoff and Browne. She then stayed at home to care for her children while they were young. Sandy later returned to work part-time in Findlay for Blanchard Valley Anesthesiologists, Dr. Thomas Vail DPM, and the law offices of Drake, Phillips, Kuenzli and Clark, where she retired in 2014.

Sandy was a lifelong Catholic and member of Our Lady of Consolation Parish. She enjoyed volunteering in her children's activities while they attended OLC school. Later, she helped teach OLC 4th grade religious education classes. Sandy enjoyed spending time outdoors, but especially enjoyed riding bicycles and taking drives to Lake Erie with her husband, Mike. She cherished time with her family, watching her grandchildren play sports, and spending time with her best friend, Laura.

Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Friday, Aug. 25, 2023, at Stombaugh-Batton Funeral Home, 225 West Findlay Street, Carey. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 26, 2023, at The Basilica Our Lady of Consolation with Father Tom Merrill, OFM Conv. presiding. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery, Carey.

Donations may be made in Sandy's honor to Our Lady of Consolation Parish or American Diabetes Association and may be sent to the funeral home.
