Sandra Garmatter Obituary
Sandra J. Garmatter, 83, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 7, 2023, at Bridge Hospice Care Center, Bluffton.
Sandy was born July 17, 1939, in Bowling Green, to the late Loren and Margaret (McGuire) Bassitt. She married Leland Garmatter on Oct. 31, 1959, and he preceded her in death Aug. 21, 2015.
Sandy was a graduate of Beaverdam High School. She retired from Bluffton Schools where she was a secretary. Sandy was a member of Emmanuel United Church of Christ, Bluffton. She enjoyed playing cards and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Sandy's survivors include five children, Jacqui (Mel) Benroth of Columbus Grove, Scott (Kim) Garmatter of Bluffton, Eric (Julie) Garmatter of Bluffton, Jill (Tony) Rumer of Bluffton, and Curt Garmatter of Columbus Grove; grandchildren, Ryan (Liz) Benroth, Jacob Garmatter, Joshua Garmatter, Adrian (Austin) Bricker, Bret (Madeline) Rumer, Averey Rumer, Baylor Garmatter, Brinkley Garmatter, Laykin Garmatter, Klarissa Garmatter, Kalyn Garmatter, Karsyn Garmatter, Cade Garmatter, Darby (Jen) Benroth, and Jori (Ryan) Shoemaker; great-grandchildren, Owen and Addi Shoemaker, Bodey and Barrett Benroth, Ayden and Ainsley Benroth, Valery, Lincoln, and Vanna Rumer, and Haven Bricker; brother, Bill (Nancy) Bassitt of Wapakoneta; and sister, Sally (Roger) Fruchey of Columbus Grove.
Sandy was also preceded in death by two brothers, Thomas "Skip" Bassitt and Richard "Rocket" Bassitt; and sister, Susan Henline.
Sandy's services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 11, 2023, at Emmanuel United Church of Christ, Bluffton. Pastor Jeremy Mann will be officiating. Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 10, 2023, at Chiles-Laman Funeral & Cremation Services, Bluffton, and 9:30-10:30 a.m. Saturday at the church.
Memorial contributions may be made to Emmanuel United Church of Christ or Bridge Home Health and Hospice.

So sorry for the loss of your Mother, I always enjoyed her company, especially when we played Bridge, a lot of good memories, you are all in my thoughts and prayers, I am sorry that I can´t be at her service, but I am living in North Canton, Ohio now and traveling is difficult for me. I send my deepest sympathy to all of the Garmatter family. Back in my school days, I enjoyed teasing Sandy. She was such a good sport and kind person. My parents thought so much of her. She will be missed by so many. I will be out of town this weekend so I regret that I won´t be able to see anyone. Please know that your are in my prayers.
