RuthAnn Sammet
RuthAnn Sammet, 85, of Carey, passed away peacefully Saturday, February 14, 2026, surrounded by her family after a courageous six-year battle with cancer.
RuthAnn was born January 4, 1941, in Fostoria, to the late Roger E. and Garnet (Zimmerman) Doe. She married Richard Sammet, May 9, 2000, in Gatlinburg, Tennessee, and he survives. Also surviving are her daughters, Kristine (Terry) Sheridan and Toni (Carl) Regutti, both of Carey, Tina (Robin) Schuster and Annie (Dale) Fredritz, both of Upper Sandusky; stepchildren, David (Christine) Sammet and Roger (Julie) Sammet, both of Carey, and Susan (Doug) Marshall of Findlay; 20 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; brothers, Roger (Joann) Doe of Fostoria and Donald (Barbara) Doe of Auburndale, Florida; sisters, Janet Keeton of Alvada and Kathy (David) Aken of Fostoria.
She was also preceded in death by her brother, Lloyd Doe.
RuthAnn was a 1959 graduate of Fostoria High School and retired from Frederick Brothers IGA in 2003. She was a member of Carey Fire Department Women's Auxiliary. RuthAnn was famous for her homemade cookies and pies. RuthAnn was an avid reader with more than 2000 books in her library. She and Dick loved to travel in search of antique stores at out-of-the-way historical sites. They were also known for their spur-of-the-moment trips to Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg, just to go shopping.
Visitation for RuthAnn will be from 4-7 p.m. Thursday, February 19, 2026, at Stombaugh-Batton & Snyder Funeral Home, Carey. RuthAnn's Celebration of Life Service will begin at 11 a.m. Friday, February 20, 2026, at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Spring Grove Cemetery, Carey.
Memorial contribu-tions may be made in RuthAnn's honor to Bridge Home Health & Hospice or Carey Fire Department Women's Auxiliary.
