Ruth Roy Obituary

Ruth Ann Roy

In loving memory of Ruth Ann Roy, 86, who passed away Friday, Feb. 23, 2024, at Blanchard Valley Hospital following a short illness.

Ruth was born May 2, 1937, in Fremont, to Clarence and Emma (Oelke) Duseberg. After graduation from high school, Ruth attended cosmetology school. Her first job was at Lasalle's Department Store in Findlay, which led to meeting the man she would marry. Ruth and Robert were married Aug. 24, 1957, and after 51 years of marriage, Robert passed away Sept. 19, 2008.

Ruth is survived by her sons, Roland (Janine) Roy of Powell, Rex Roy of McComb, Roger (Marcia) Roy of Van Buren, and Rian Roy of McComb; grandsons, Chad (Liz) Roy of Delaware, Ohio, ZT Roy of Powell, and David (Kaylie) of Granger, Texas; granddaughter, Catheryn Roy of Van Buren; two great-grandsons; sister-in-law, Marylou Duseberg of Mountain Home, Arkansas; and many loved nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; loving husband, Robert; brother, David Duseberg; and sister, Judith Elsner.

Over her lifetime, Ruth had many occupations and interests. Early in their marriage, Ruth and Robert moved to his family's dairy farm in McComb. Along with helping on the farm, Ruth had her own beauty shop, Cedar Lane Beauty Salon, where she served many friends and neighbors in the community. She also worked as an EMT with the local fire department. One of Ruth's most cherished pursuits was her China painting. She was a self-taught painter and quite accomplished. She did beautiful work. She enjoyed attending both the annual Hancock County Fair and NW Ohio Antique Machinery Show. For many years, she had a large garden and she made the best Cranberry-Banana bread. She was dedicated to her family and loved her home. Ruth will be greatly missed and forever loved by her family.

Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 28, 2024, at Hanneman Funeral Home, 370 Park Dr S., McComb. Ruth's celebration of life service will be 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 29, 2024, at the funeral home. Ruth will be reunited with her loving husband, Robert, at Pleasant Hill Cemetery.
