Ruth Joan (Hastings) Bacon

Ruth Joan (Hastings) Bacon, 84, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 11, 2023, at Good Samaritan Nursing Home, Arlington.

She was born Feb. 28, 1938, at home in Dola, to Walter Ralph and Ruth Naomi (Motter) Hastings. She married Richard Leroy Bacon on Jan. 8, 1958, and he preceded her in death Oct. 19, 2003.

Joan is survived by a son, Michael Todd (Christine) Bacon of Dunkirk; two grandchildren, Michelle (Rodney) Mowery of Ada and Kevin Bacon of Dunkirk; two great-grandchildren, Faith LaPlant and Brynlee LaPlant; and several nieces and nephews.

She was also preceded in death by her parents; four brothers, Ralph, Richard, Paul, and Gerald Hastings; and best friend, Martha Hodge.

Joan was a 1956 graduate of Hardin Northern High School. She worked for UAP, Forest, for over 38 years before retiring.

Joan was a current member of Grant Fellowship Church and past member of Kenton Elks. In her free time, she enjoyed going shopping and meeting up with her fellow retirees for get-togethers, as well as her classmates for their class reunions.

Joan's funeral will be 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 16, 2023, at Price-McElroy Funeral Home, Kenton, with Pastor Cynthia Morris officiating. Burial will follow at Dunkirk Cemetery.

Friends and family may visit 1-4 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 15, 2023, at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Joan's honor may be made to Grant Fellowship Church or Not By Choice.
